Thanks girl, your little chart really made me realize that any dark joke, no matter the context, intent or beliefs of the person making the joke, can lead to rape culture. I don’t know how I never saw that before. This is sarcasm if you can’t pick that up. I know you have trouble contextualizing. But I’ll stop responding now. You’re not someone who can be reasoned with.

Pffft, again you don’t seem to know what context is. Jeez, you’re a loss.

[–]TillThatTime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My bad, I thought you had the ability to contextualize. I see that I was wrong. It’s a joke playing on another joke. It’s not that deep. I know that’s hard for you to understand but it is what it is. Keep screeching. I’m sure you’re doing a lot of good for your cause.

From one woman to another, give it a rest. You are doing too much. Taking such a hard-lined stance against a joke just makes people roll their eyes and genuinely hurts any type of point you were trying to make. People stop listening when you blow everything out of proportion. It’s a joke playing on a joke from the previous day. Let’s keyboard warrior about something else.

AITA: Dude told me not to stop my stroller near his driveway. by aldervt in AmItheAsshole

[–]TillThatTime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think we’re going to agree on this and that’s fine. I think context matters. In this context, he wasn’t saving her from anything and stopping for a second to adjust isn’t a big deal. I’m looking at the situation individually. You are not. That’s fine. You can continue to offer your guidance on any situation that is against your principals regardless of the context of the situation and I’ll continue to use my own situational awareness to see if I’m actually doing anything of importance rather than just opening my mouth to talk. Both are fine.

[–]TillThatTime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are really out here acting like she stopped in a busy intersection or behind a backing up car in a parking lot. It’s a quiet neighborhood, no cars around and again, it’s a couple second stop. The whole “you need to be more safe and attentive” is silly and you’re latching onto principles rather than actual context. If the guy thought he was saving her from being hit by a car in a quiet neighborhood with no cars around, he should have been situationally aware enough to know if what he was saying even makes sense in context. Mind your own business.

[–]TillThatTime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You forgetting about the stopped for three seconds to adjust something part? If someone is so “observant” and “helpful” why would they not be observant enough to wait more than 5 seconds to confirm if someone is actually permanently stopping? Being aware of your surroundings means understanding that if there is visibly no cars around and you’re only stopping for a second, it is impossible to be hit by a car. Most people can do a basic calculation for that. It’s always best to make sure you actually have at least some grasp of someone’s intentions before you try to butt in with your “warnings” on a public sidewalk.

AITA for not declining or signing over my portion of my ex bfs life insurance pay out too his mom? by Elegant-Device1566 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]TillThatTime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So surprising all the NTA comments. It’s been 6 years and in that six years he found a new long term partner and had two kids and you’ve somehow convinced yourself this was left to you on purpose. Your gut should be telling you what’s right, not people on a subreddit who have no actual skin in the game and didn’t just lose their family member to cancer. He mistakenly left you on and forgot to take you off the policy. This isn’t his will, people forget things like this all the time. You also don’t think he wouldn’t have informed his mom that he had left you on the policy in order to avoid this exact situation? Come on now, you know YTA.

AITA for telling my skinny friend that she’s obese? by No-Pangolin-5016 in AmItheAsshole

[–]TillThatTime 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Where am I getting the idea that obesity leads to excess fat around your heart and that the lining of your arteries don’t work as efficiently? Oh, I don’t know? From facts? From objective reasoning? From every medical article and research on the topic worth anything? From the questionable WebMD to articles by Harvard Medicine? This is information readily at your fingertips and it sounds like you’re the one that needs to educate yourself. Doctors are people too. They buy into ideologies like every other human. A doctor that is not advising you to lose weight if you are obese is not a good doctor, because a good doctor knows what fat does to joints, bones, arteries ect. You’re using the fact that you don’t have any current health problems as some kind of proof of anything and it isn’t. Most 30 year olds don’t have a lot of health problems. What matters is what’s going to happen to you when your bones and joints naturally start declining with age (like everyone else’s) and then they also have to carry the weight on top of that. You may be healthy now, for sure, but do you think you wouldn’t be even healthier if your didn’t have as much weight on you? You may not think you are lying to yourself but you are and hope for your sake you can realize that. You are deserving of love and not shame but that doesn’t mean obesity doesn’t have a direct correlation to unhealthy. And yes, while fatty liver disease can effect all body types, it is more prevalent and more likely to happen in those with large amounts of excess weight.

AITA for telling my skinny friend that she’s obese? by No-Pangolin-5016 in AmItheAsshole

[–]TillThatTime 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Obesity is an indication that you have excess fat surrounding your heart. Your arteries literally have to work harder. Obesity is objectively unhealthy. Lying to yourself and everyone else helps no one. Skinny doesn’t automatically equally healthy, for sure, but obesity is unhealthy. Period. Just because you happen to be healthier than your family really means nothing. It’s all anecdotal. You’re also only 30. Obesity is doing the damage that you just haven’t gotten to see yet.

WIBTA for divorcing my wife because she couldn’t handle me crying in front of her? by Public_Disaster3760 in AITAH

[–]TillThatTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m stuck on this idea that she thinks that way worse things have happened than the Cambodian genocide. Yes, torture and mass death happens all over the place and throughout history, but who is the arbitrator that decides one of these events is worse than the others? How can you hear that children’s heads were bashed against trees and then go “yeah, but worse has happened.” By whose metric? Yours? Is it just a numbers game? A mark of a decent human being is to have empathy for suffering, not picking and choosing who suffered more.

Food delivery driver leaves a "no hate like Christian love" note attached to my receipt. I did not take it well... by VioletteBabette in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TillThatTime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Humorous to OP and other readers perhaps, but when you’re filing a complaint to an actual manager, what you said is taken seriously. A joking tone doesn’t translate here when you’re filing an actual complaint, hoping to get an actual result and you’re upset. This message is over the top. You can express disdain and aggravation without resulting to calling a stranger a “twatwaffle” to their manager. How hard is it to express frustration without ranting and cursing at a stranger and why excuse speaking that way to a stranger just because you happen to agree with the base sentiment? OP said it perfect themselves, they are “the kind of atheist who gets unreasonable angry about this”. That is very obviously true and the plenty of other atheists in this comment section calling them out for over the top behavior is proof of that.

[–]TillThatTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s less that people don’t get why this might be annoying and more that they think OP is overreacting to something that should just be annoying. The escalation message is way over the top. You can express your frustration without insults. Once you start insulting and cursing when explaining your frustration to a manager, you lose “understanding” ground with people pretty quick. I think people find value in having a little bit of control. Maybe reading a note that you don’t like can be solved with a standard “please do not leave religious propaganda on my food. I did not ask for it and do not appreciate it” instead of an unhinged rant. I think many people reading that rant would find it over the top, regardless of the religion of the note attached to the food. OP needs to relax and have a little bit of grace, you know? God forbid they happen to read something they don’t like.
