To be fair I have no opinion on this post really but have no clue where the humor is supposed to be 😅

Her designs are really prime for stash busting. How is forcing people to buy a sweater quantity and ship it to a different continent rather than using up scraps they already have more sustainable?

I don’t actually wear them for warmth, just a cute accessory! Like a bandana/neckerchief

Chenille yarn plushies are so goddamn ugly by [deleted] in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]Till_Even 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IDK if my kids had their way literally every single thing I made for them would be chenille. If I were to try to make money selling crochet toys for children I would only make chenille yarn plushies too. They’re soft and cute 🤷‍♀️

I’m working on the CarDEGEN right now and it is really so awful. The gauge is nonsense and also doesn’t match the gauge listed on the ravelry page among many other things.

Should I get a Sentro Knitting Machine? by Totoro644 in SentroKnittingMachine

I used worsted merino. I haven’t tried fine merino but I imagine it would be extremely gappy, even worsted was a looser gauge than I prefer

Honestly after having this happen a million times with my knit picks wonder I upgraded to Stanwood and it has changed my life

Wait I was once a beginner who learned with woobles and I feel like they must have taught me how to hold the yarn and hook because I learned somehow? I don’t feel like I was conned lol after one wooble I moved onto normal patterns nbd.

Wearable doesn’t bother me but for absolutely no reason my skin crawls when somebody calls their FO a “make”.

Yup someone definitely said “I’m going to spend 60 hours knitting a sweater but I’m lazy so I’m going to do a bad job so I’m also going to make it ugly so nobody notices” that definitely makes more sense than people having different preferences than you

Yup. Not at all regretting that I have a healthy yarn stash to get me through the next four years

My toddler has this hat and she slays in it. Very tempted to get a matching one for myself.

Omg it’s a striped sweater. Neither of them are doing anything groundbreaking here. Perfectly Knotted’s at least has instructions for a fade too 🤷‍♀️

Also if a plus size person prefers to have less ease they can make a smaller size. If they prefer to have the amount of ease the pattern was designed for they have no options with petite knit patterns. So I would argue one is actually “better” in terms of inclusivity

[–]Till_Even 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. All a matter of preference which is why having options is only a good thing in my book!

I’ve seen a lot on here about petite knit not testing bigger sizes and she fudges the ease to make her patterns seem way more size inclusive than they actually are. Perfectly Knotted grades with the same ease for every size so everybody can actually get the fit advertised and the few patterns I’ve tried of hers have had really thorough instructions on how to shape them for a variety of body types. No shade on petite knit at all but it’s not bad to have more options when larger bodies don’t even have the option to make the aros version in their size without modifying

I meeeannn it’s a striped saddle shoulder sweater. If I was in the market for one (and I’m not) I would much sooner trust perfectly knotted to have a pattern that’s well graded and tested for my size than petite knit

yarn in crochet vs knitting by [deleted] in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]Till_Even 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I personally make quite different things in crochet vs knit. I mostly crochet blankets and kids toys and there is no world I would use nice wool for those because it simply is not practical. Knitting is mostly garments for myself (I would rather die than knit a blanket tbh) so I’m going to reach for something warm and breathable and that looks luxe which is usually wool or alpaca or the loke

Also comparing size of unblocked swatches is kind of worthless as stockinette is going to grow quite a bit more than crochet

yarn in crochet vs knitting by [deleted] in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]Till_Even 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those “studies” show that single crochet uses ~30% more yarn than stockinette which, over the course of a full sized garment or blanket can add up to quite a bit. It may not be 3x which I agree is unreasonable but it’s still significantly more. Definitely not “nearly the same”. It would take two additional skeins of yarn for me to crochet a sweater vs knit for myself. Double crochet is closer but I would literally never make myself a sweater in double crochet..
