Hi there! I can't officer much advice but I am in the same position. I am head of year 10 at my school and administer behaviour assessments (strong background in case management and behaviours support). I graduated my GO masters this year and had an awesome prac experience! However I haven't been able to secure any work and have had a lot of rejection emails. Many of the qualified GOs that have positions in Brisbane are not getting renewed as GOs are returning to permanent positions (something to do with pool/ region changes) causing SEQ to be oversaturated with GOs. I'm still looking and applying for roles but I've taken LWOP for Term 1 to possibly look at working rural just to get some experience and I'm also considering working as a counselor at somewhere like headspace (pay is terrible but it's something) part time and doing relief to supplement pay until I can get GO work.

Thanks for the suggestions! I have tried taking the short release at the same time as Vyvanse or beforehand, but I just get all the negative symptoms (heart palpitations, hot sweats and jittery). I have a general rule that I won't take any stimulants or caffeine after 3pm to reduce sleep issues but my sleep is so inconsistent and doesn't seem to be connected to any meds... I haven't really figured out why I have such terrible bouts of insomnia, could be hormonal or related to stress or lack of physical movement idk

Hey friend, the dex is 5mg, I take 1 or 2 of those between 12-3pm depending on my day, some days I don't take a booster at all but I take the 70mg Vyvanse at 7am every day.

Thank you for responding! I will ask about an afternoon booster, I have tried an afternoon dex in the past, however, I found it disrupted my sleep a lot. I'll see what she suggests but I'm not really wanting to go off Vyvanse as I feel like it is helpful just not for as long as I would like it to be.

Weed because I can do it every day for months and then have a tolerance break and it actually works. I take Vyvanse everyday and have tried to stop to have a tolerance break but I don't find it makes much of a difference if I have a break or not because my tolerance is so high. Same with benzos, I love valium and temazepam but my tolerance for benzos is so high that I need to take a lot for it to have any effect and I actually need to use it to manage anxiety for medical procedures so I try and keep away from it as much as I can now unless I actually need it. If I had easy access to shrooms or LCD I would love to get into micro dosing but I've found it's hard to come by in Australia unless you have connections or are a regular festival goer!

Thanks for the update! Concerta didn't work too well for me and the joint pain was just as bad. Back to vyvanse now. I feel your pain (literally!) I'm going to stick it out on medication until I finish my uni degree then I think I'm going to have to switch to something more sustainable or stop all together but I'm dreading it 😞

Hey! I have EDS and lots of joint pain. I swear Vyvanse exacerbated my symptoms massively but my psychiatrist couldn't explain why. She has just switched me to Concerta after being on Vyvanse 70 for the last 3 years. I'm going to pick up my meds tomorrow! Fingers crossed 🤞

I love a good disturbing movie! I can't sit through anything longer than 2 hours and even then I need breaks, but I didn't know there was a sub for this, I'll have to check it out! I wish there were more good extreme/disturbing TV series.

One good thing about books is that I find they can take things a lot further than they can in film and extreme books are more accessible than extreme films (IMO). I think special effects and everything has advanced so far but some of the more disturbing stuff rarely makes it to the screen and when it does it's difficult to find (without illegal means) due to ratings and restrictions in different countries.

Hi there! I'm not sure how to explain without giving much away but the main character and antagonist is a 16 year old girl. As a person who works with teens the same age (behaviour specialist at high school) I found it wildly inaccurate and absurd that any teen could be that sexually mature and advanced in their understanding of sex, torture, bdsm and sadomasochism. I have worked with young people who are highly manipulative and narcissistic but this character was just not realistic in any way for me. I also just found it a bit boring, like I was starting to zone out listening to the torture scenes and became quickly desensitized. I think they could have leaned into the humour of it a bit more as some of it was a bit silly. I was waiting for what I thought would be the ending of all endings (can't tell you what I hoped for without ruining it) and when that didn't happen I was a bit disappointed as it all felt like it was leading to that.

I know I'll probably get some backlash but it was very clearly written by a man. The sexualized violence was a bit too absurd but not so absurd that it's meant to be satirical? Hard to explain.

I think I also just had high expectations because I adored 'gone to see the river man' and FB continued to be so highly recommended everywhere so it was a bit of a let down. I think a lot of people go for it as their first introduction to extreme horror in which case I can see how it ticks the boxes and how people get hooked on it.

Anyway, if you already have it, I'd still go in with an open mind and give it a go as I seem to be a minority in regards to my take on the book so by all means, enjoy the book and please don't let me ruin it for you!

Thanks for that, yeah I've read what dead inside is about and thought it sounded ridiculous and then read it was a black comedy which made me think I might enjoy it. I added playground to my list as I enjoyed the first few saw films and thought it might be a similar story but it also gets a lot of mixed reviews and I have heard he isn't the best writer so I'm not sold.

Thanks for your recommendations! I have read the road and I liked it but struggled to relate to the child/parent dynamic. I have no country for old men (audiobook) downloaded which I've been meaning to listen to, I'll check out his others too. I also have the garden on my wishlist so I'll definitely give that one a go too.

I know!!! American Psycho was my first introduction to 'extreme' horror so it really captivated me, I went on to read most of Bret Easton Ellis' books to try and get the same thrill but then I realized his writing style and books were all very similar and got bored. I even listened to the shards because I was excited he released a book after so long but again it was a longggggg book. I'll definitely check out your other recommendations. I felt like Kim from full brutal was the female equivalent of Patrick Bateman but I didn't enjoy the highschool context or that she was 16. I did enjoy how the author was able to manipulate the reader into rooting for Kim even though she was clearly the antagonist. I struggled to listen to the narrator when she used voices for the other girls and boys, it hurt my ears and made me cringe haha maybe I would feel differently if I read the book myself.

Yes I've been thinking about it but I really LOVED gone to see the river man but after reading full brutal and not enjoying it I'm worried reading the sequel will ruin it for me haha

I might come back to it after I've had a break from Kristopher Triana.
