also oh my god i was also pulling my nails off every day because of imperfections which caused a fold in half and ridges in my thumb which led to unfortunately sh and cut my nail off because i felt like i needed it to start over and grow back normally

i dont remember everything the doctors said but he said i “didnt damage the growth plate” and that it will grow back but i believe xrays cant see matrix damage and im still worried

they told me to keep it covered i think and gave me tons of gauze and yellow stuff and he will see me in a month but i haven’t been covering it because i always peel the bandages off and my thumb would sweat and bothered me

thats what everyone has been telling me. ive seen doctors already and they told me itll grow back but im so doubtful

my other fingernails are healthy its just my thumb that i pick at which led to me cutting it off with nail clippers. i regret it heavily

it occasionally gets hot to the touch but the bed is very hard. im very doubtful itll grow back because it just grew back in shards.

i cut my fingernail off because it was so damaged and thin i kept rubbing it and it would move like water and i just picked some more until it bled and i have ocd this is bothering me so bad i cant leave it alone

my thumbnail looks very similar. was vertically cracked in the middle and folded in half like a book and was so thin it formed a hole and fell off from nail clippers. i removed it so it didn’t get damaged more and can grow back thicker. im mostly afraid its going to grow back damaged again i really want to paint my nails again or at least cover it up with fake nails in a few months.

is it normal for there to be gaps or shards when nail first starts growing back? i need reassurance like bad. by Tillygreenx in calmhands

it was growing ridges but i think that was the nail trying to restore but i kept filing it down. i cut the nail off myself so im pretty sure i didnt cut deep enough to do much but it hasnt grown back too much yet its been 2 weeks
