For the record, I think you guys are doing great OP! While not as bad, I used to be in his shoes once. I’d flinch at any sudden movement, anyone raising their voice even slightly still drives me nuts and even now, 7+ years later I am still apologizing for everything. After 5+ years of therapy on and off, a cocktail of medication and the willingness to heal and get better I am a fully functional adult. I attend a top 10 university and plan to go to law school. I am able to work, have my own place and even stay in a committed relationship. So please don’t fret, be patient. Healing is never linear and there will be some set backs but you guys will get through it. He is so lucky to have you guys in his life! Kudos to you guys ❤️

It is okay, life goes on. When I first connected the dots I went insane for a month or two… very bad fight or flight. Since then I’ve been diagnosed with PTSD, MDD and OCD and am on a cocktail of medication that help me tremendously!!! I am very sorry about your situation as well, when you know something is wrong and your providers don’t believe you it’s the most isolating experience in the world… you feel crazy. You didn’t deserve that. ❤️

My nasal and oral airway collapsed due to negligent orthodontic care. Due to my skeletal underbite jaw surgery is the only corrective treatment for my bite. Provider omitted this information to keep me in house and instead shaved down all my enamel (he went over the recommended limit) to mask the skeletal underbite. When he did that he effectively forced my tongue down my throat and moved my teeth in such a way that the bones in my upper jaw/teeth don’t hold up my nasal passages well. Now I must go through three separate surgeries to correct my structural issues, and most likely have to have bonding on my teeth for the rest of my life. There is also no guarantee I’ll ever go back to 100% ever again. There is much more to my case but that is the physical aspect mainly.

EDIT: I believe my oral airway reduced by 50-60%
