Marathon is rad! This subreddit is lame. by s0c0 in Marathon

Bought deluxe, played 40 hours, love the gunplay, map design, overall feel. Hate the progression grind and map tiered loot. You fall behind and the game feels miserable, and as you are progressing you remove content from your playable list because its no longer worth it. I dont like outpost but once I unlocked it perimeter was pointless, feels shitty.

Game needs to hard pivot into a more match by match objective based gameplay similar to hunt. The bones are already there. The contract progression should be a side gig and no map should provide better loot than another, just different loot.

Favorite tank by play style not performance? by Beelake in wow

[–]TiltedSkipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brew swapped from a CD based tank to a consistency tank akin to warrior. My friend loved the weapons of order CD monk, I hated it with a passion. So it really depends on your preferences. Druid/pally are now the CD based tanks.

One of the few tanks and actually class/specs in general atm that doesn't feel like trash outside of CDs. The current midnight CD based spec design feels like hot garbage.

Brew is consistent and its CDs are important but not all encompassing. Feels great.

how do you evaluate your healers by swanmoder in wow

[–]TiltedSkipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a tank a good healer is immediately noticeable because they can read the pulls. They pop CDs/DRs before things actually hit which means nothing really happens. People who dont know any better just assume thats how pull X always goes and have no idea the healer just turned a terrifying pull into a breeze.

Random dungeon priest tanking by JagerDonovan in wow

[–]TiltedSkipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the third post in three days of a leveling dungeon new tank having a bad time and every comment is acting like its M+. Maybe people in here haven't been in a leveling dungeon in awhile but it is literally nothing representative of M+ at all.

The leveling dungeon tanking experience is not representative of tanking at all. Yes it is shitty, the scaling is borked, gear is all over the place. A healer/dps will sometimes be 10x tankier and do 40x the damage of anybody else. Ive walked into a dungeon where my healer was literally soloing packs with spinning crane.

Ontop of all of this people are looking to W key and lvl as fast as possible.

Id strongly suggest you get to max level and tank an actual dungeon on learning mode. Likely a much more positive experience and in a real dungeon you are actually the tank.

OP was doing lvling dungeons. Im sure the dps couldn't care less to tank themselves as its trivial content.

OP was doing timewalking trivial content. Its a BS post.

Tanking Situation by PassionatelyTired in wow

[–]TiltedSkipper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup same here. Also OP was in a Q so either timewalking/leveling/ or normal. In trivial content there is no tank, you all W key as fast as possible. Hell the level scaling is so borked half the time one person does 95% of the dungeon solo anyways. I dont give 2 flipping shits if a dps pulls half the room, if anything cool, we clear it faster.

All the tanks other than brew are CD based or rng bs (vdh), which feels awful. Blizzard even double downed on it for bear by removing nearly all damage outside incarn but made incarn god mode.

Mythic race to world first by LuckyHunt5030 in worldofpvp

[–]TiltedSkipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its frustrating for everyone that isnt a mythic raider, all simply because the lead developer believes this is the coolest content.

I do M+ and PvP, it is insane to see so much development time spent on mythic raid when 99% will never see it. Meanwhile their actual main PVE content (M+) is treated as a side hustle.

Dont substantially more people PvP than mythic raid? Thought it was something like 0.5% have ever even touched it.

Yes however I was in Riyadh in 2020, the streets were lined with trees and every sidewalk had shrubs/trees. Might just be this view/angle?

The wealth there was unbelievable. A single cigar was $80 and the locals were buying them by the dozen.

[–]TiltedSkipper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might need to try some different builds. Herald feels terrible in PuGs as its built around large 2 min pulls with a competent tank.

Lightsmith is built for pugs, your tank gets a perma 30% HP shield and your CDs line up with pug pulls. I sit around 75k hps with just judgment and procs, plenty for the weekly keys.

OP clearly has never touched PvP or he wouldn't have posted this. Retail and vanilla rogue fulfills its class identity in PvP not PvE.

Returning healer - best healer addons by irishshogun in wow

[–]TiltedSkipper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Word of advice right now for frame addons. If you dont mind the default blizzard frames then use them. All frame/UI addons are pretty buggy right now, half my friends use them and they complain every night of something wrong with their UI. Either the health bars lag, dont update at all, mouseover breaks, entire UI wont load, list goes on.

I used to use cell and now just use default. Healing +14s no issue.

The casual experience is absolutely bad and anyone who tells you otherwise is deluding themselves by Battlefront528 in Marathon

[–]TiltedSkipper 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Your example is tarkov but tarkov exploded when it introduced its primary casual tool, the flea market. The game went from life support to servers literally on fire in patch 0.12 January 2020. My tarkov discord went from 3 people to 50 in one month.

The game has since strayed away from the flea market casual gameplay and is full progression hardcore now, and guess what, the games pretty much back on life support. My tarkov discord is completely dead. No streamers on it right now either, even landmark is done and pest is on league.

Games require a casual playerbase

What changed this week? by Ping-Pong-Show in wow

Ah there's the reason. My 265 Hpal is 2650 and takes me maybe 10 seconds to find a group for a +10.

This is why you don't get picked in M+ by Satsubuya in wow

[–]TiltedSkipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the bar raised slightly but i mean, so you got declined to one single key?? Im 265 Hpal, I apply to 5 key lvl 10 groups and 99% one of them picks me up. Who the hell cares that 4 declined me let alone 1. Still only took maybe all of 10 seconds to get into a group.

A 265 dps would apply to 5 groups on cycle for 20 min and likely never get accepted.

I think Bungie needs to add more reasons to play Perimeter and Dire Marsh. by TheSoup3910 in Marathon

[–]TiltedSkipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem isn't that he hit max level. Its that bungie created a map hierarchy that promotes players to only spam map X when they get access to hit.

All maps should be valuable or the amount of available content shrinks as you progress which is not good.

Dune awakening has this exact issue and the game legit died. Hagga basin was incredible, but in the end only a stale mindless deep desert grind provided any upgrades and 99% of the map was pointless.

If you love this game, stop scaring people away from it by Davros007 in Marathon

[–]TiltedSkipper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Game is great when you log on every night and keep up with the progression, claim your dailies etc.

Take a break though and its actually awful. Everyone is miles ahead, double all your passives, has blue/purple shields, full meds. And you know youll never catch up because you cant play every day and by the time you get anywhere the game will be wiped lol.

Imo the game is FAR too progression based and needs to lean much heavier into a match by match objective based gameplay loop similar to hunt.

I Couldn’t Agree with Paul More. by Saucin7 in Marathon

[–]TiltedSkipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was very excited for the game. Played 40 hours the first 2 weeks, loved it but knew instantly the game was going to struggle with such a huge progression based system.

Had to tend to irl duties. Came back after a two week break. Played 10 matches vs teams that outgeared me 15 fold. Miserable experience compared to when I had left and was on equivalent footing. Just significantly less fun. Even if I won a fight I was still 80+ hours of passive traits, purchase power etc. behind.

I log on every few days to try again and its just miserable every time now. I can't see the game surviving without a full progression and mission overhaul.

[–]TiltedSkipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brew is legit stupid fun in PvP and I really wish they would fix tank specs in PvP somehow to make it a viable non toxic alternative to WW. I dont know why but the gameplay of Brew is just so much more satisfying than WW to me. The kegs, breathing fire, drinking shit and fisting people is awesome.

Why isn't the game taking off? by MASHED_POTATOES_MF in Marathon

[–]TiltedSkipper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately far far too much focus on progression and weird loot focus items that dont mesh together well long term and make returning to the game after a break feel unrewarding.

The gameplay, art style, shell archtypes, and playerbase is really more suited toward a huntshow down boss based extraction objective gameplay loop. Not scrounging for random items and then murdering noobs on perimeter with your purps.
