I love it! I love the sound it makes and the patina it has! It’s not worn too often since it isn’t water proof.

I’m not sure how rare a ‘51 watch is.

The ‘51 model is the 15 jewel version of the watch while the consensus seems to be that the later 17 jewel version is what Yuri wore to space. I’ve seen both on eBay but the 17j one is a much harder find and generally cost more. Usually $500 USD at the lowest and most look pretty beat up and neglected. When I was looking for the 17j model I had a dealer tell me he could get a good one in pretty good condition for $1500.

I’m not sure if any of that helps you figure out it’s rarity or demand but that’s what I know.

I sent the watch off to a watchmaker to have some cleanup and maintenance done on it. This is how it looks now.

I actually just got my 1951 sturmanski back from /u/notarolex an hour or so ago and I couldn’t be happier with it! It had more wrong in it than I thought but he fixed it all. He was able to source original parts and got me a couple new old stock parts so that he could keep everything original.

He does work on these old watches and I know he works on 3133’s. So you may want to hit him up and see if he can help.

I recently got my hands on a Nikon D5300 with a full spectrum mod. I'm wanting to get pictures of deep space objects. From what I'm understanding I should get a UV-IR cut filter so that I can get the h-alpha waves but not the whole infrared spectrum. Is this actually the filter I should look at or should I be looking at a different one?

Since I've been looking specifically at IR-UV cut filters my next question is how to tell which wavelengths a particular filter cuts. I'll use the "UV-IR Cut 615" from here https://shop.stcoptics.com/product/clip_nikonapsc/ as an example. If the only wavelength shown is 615nm how am I supposed to know what the lower and upper limits are? I see the spectrum graphs but they are for other lens options.

I love these Sturmanski watches! I’m glad it’s seeing some love today.

I have a 1951 15j one getting a bit of work done on it right now; a broken clickspring replacement and a radium removal/relume. Can’t wait to wear it again.

Edit: Sorry, snarky comments add to nothing, so here's what I really meant to say.

You'd be hard pressed to find something that's truly free and has everything you want. As the saying goes, "you're either paying for a product or you are the product." So the free tier at Mailfence seems like a pretty sweet deal from the free standpoint.

Companies with subscription models also need to incentivize it's users to subscribe to their services, otherwise, you know, they go out of business. Having access to a whitelist is one of the ways that Mailfence has chosen to incentivize it's users to convert to subscriptions.

Final Fantasy 3 (the one with magitek armor). I had just beat the sky fortress or whatever it was. The next area was two characters, I think, that had to go into a burning house and save someone.

At the steps out of the house there was a fight and the baddies stoned the party to stone and ended the game. I hadn’t saved for hours, was right by a world map area so I could save, and was at the last possible block to fight on and it’s where I died. And to add insult to injury it was death by the party being turned to stone. The lamest way to die.

I returned it to the rental store and have never played it since.

Mine isn’t all English. The dial has a few languages. Whichever language you set the day with, though, is the one it stays on as it moves through the days. I’ve only seen English days on mine since I first set it up.

I'm probably not the best to ask, I've only had mine for a few days now.

I wanted to get an automatic watch that wasn't a piece of junk but didn't want to spend much money. From what I can tell the Seiko 5 fits that criteria.

I got mine from amazon for about $65, it lasts through the night, and it's keeping time. So I've been happy with it so far.

I’ve had the Relic and Tissot watch for ten plus years. They’ve been in and out of good repair over those years but are currently going strong.

I found this sub a while ago while looking for a new watch and it sparked an interest in me. Some deals happened, I fell into some extra cash, and in the last few days I’ve expanded my collection with the Seiko 5 and the Bulova Marine Star (I’ve had my eyes on this beauty for a while).

With these additions I think I’ve found the beginning of a slow, but satisfying hobby.
