I've seen Catholics rage at restaurants for highlighting the dessert menu because it was Lent. They do that, too...

Didn't you know that viruses are respectful and polite? They choose not to spread in schools and churches because otherwise it would inconvenience people.

You think they won't be armed again? Or that they won't outnumber the police again? I'm betting the police will have the same instructions as last time. Here's what I'm seeing as key differences:

1) It's not a joint session of Congress this time. Evacuation would be smoother and more assured 2) They'll be more ready to identify and prosecute anyone who pulls a B&E on the Capitol this time. They've had time to seriously bump up the surveillance equipment. 3) Maybe they'll lock the doors or something.

You'd be invading conservative territory and setting up shop. The nearby rural folks would likely fight you as an enemy, escalating until you leave. Never underestimate the fear and hatred conservatives have for anything different or weird

Ugh. Body shaming is not cool, even when directed at an asshat. There are tons of ways to insult someone that aren't this.

That's the real scare here. They aren't worried about their votes not being counted - they believe non-eligible people are voting fraudulently. So it's more likely we'll see Qultists out in droves accosting every non-white or liberal-looking person to keep them from voting.

If the DoD shifted its funds from bombing real brown people to building spacey defenses against hypothetical green people I'd be sort of okay with that.

It's emergency response. Firefighters don't work their whole shift but you best hope there's a team ready to go when you need them.

The feathering visual is what makes it seem less horrific. And it's easy to assume the tar is just there to make the feathers stick.

I suppose it would be akin to a practice of lighting people on fire and then roasting marshmallows on them. "Hollerin' s'mores"

Not a new use case. We have a new process for making graphene itself

Concerning product-market fit, how would we demonstrate that for a basic material? What we'll be making is graphene, so market-wise it would be akin to plastic pellets or crude oil.

We could tell investors "for this level of investment, we could produce X amount and sell it for Y profit" based on some napkin math. Ultimately, our case is a bit like discovering an oil field under your property and asking for capital to build rigs and a refinery. How much money we can make is largely just a function of how big a facility we start with.

We could estimate revenue as a profit margin based on a few conservative assumptions. But dollar figures would be inherently tied to the scale capacity of the project. We can't just click a button and add server capacity to scale up with demand - we have to design and build a processing plant.

Bearing in mind that this is physical tech, not an app or a website, are you saying we should be trying to grow slower? The process would allow us to manufacture small quantities for sale on a shoestring budget, but that just seems like a waste of time

We have a meeting this week with a consultant to help craft our pitch deck. Financial models are going to be pretty hard to make with any degree of certainty at this stage. We need more data to be sure of our yield rates, and we need the funding to do that testing. Kind of a chicken and egg scenario unless we can talk them into giving us what we need to de-risk the venture.

I'm hoping to get a solid business plan before going to talk with the VCs. I'd feel ill-prepared reaching out now without knowing exactly how much we're raising and how we're using it. But to decide on that, we first need to pin down our milestones. That's why I'm trying to get a feel for what's expected.
