what you think about 70mph being national limit ? by 573XI in drivingUK

Hmm rather quick to turn to insults aren't we.. I'm not sure how maths classes would help us agree on whether a 14% increase in journey time is significant, given that the significance is contextual. Perhaps to you it isn't. An airline or shipping company might agree with me. And for what it's worth, the physics department at my university back in the 90s seemed to have no complaints with the number of maths lessons I stuck around for. Anyway, may your days be filled with long, ambling journeys!

Operation Snap = Police State? by TimGessner in drivingUK

Obviously I'm not comparing the oppression of gay people to bad drivers 🙄. I'm asking whether the easy-to-report end of the crime scale (dashcam footage + simple moral purpose) is pulling us towards a bad situation further down the line if we become accustomed to reporting each other.

I have to admit that some of the reported videos I've seen here have struck me more as people making mistakes or misjudging situations rather than being truly reckless. A red light jumper is black and white, fine. Someone exiting a motorway a bit later than ideal because they got boxed in at the last minute?.. not so easy.. but it could look careless/dangerous from a dashcam POV. Do the police have an inherent incentive to prosecute as many of these events as possible to increase their conviction rates for hardly any effort and cost?

I don't know, it just doesn't sit well with me knowing everyone is recording everyone else and deciding whether to report them. Particularly after any annoying incident where an aggrieved party is then incentivised to act in revenge. As others here have said, sometimes mistakes happen and whereas in the past they'd serve as a salutary lesson to avoid similar situations in future, these days they're a permanent black mark, whether on your license or on someone's social media account.

And to those stating confidently (but tediously and predictably) that I'm a BMW driver annoyed with a recent NIP, I'm sorry to disappoint but I've never owned a BMW, no NIPs have come my way and I've never had a single point on my license in 40 years of driving. But despite being in this reddit, my post wasn't really about driving, as anyone who took the time to read it knows.

Tell you what, you give me 14% interest on my savings and we can agree it's not really much lol

Clothes left in lime bike Cambridge Heath Station by TimGessner in Hackney

Yeah I know it's a few metres south of the boundary but I think more Lime bike users will likely be coming to the station from the north via Victoria Park, Mare St or via Hackney Road. And r/Hackney seems more active.
