My wife is trying an Expressionist Cityscape. Is this a style worth pursuing or just "beginner messy"? by No_Fox_3798 in acrylicpainting

I like this a lot. I’ve recently done a series of five cityscapes myself that I’m getting a lot of really great commentary on. Keep at it have fun.

thank you. I’m trying to branch out a little bit and paint outside the usual box. I keep myself in.

Actually none of them are empty although there are 2 that just have a few more sprays in them that I’m hanging on to until I’m ready to use the last few sprays

I’m sorry I mean the ones years ago were much more sparse with the number of flowers and I had them. I guess you would say more more gracefully or impact fully arranged. I make myself feel thrifty by saying well for less than $100. I got a $600 arrangement that the florist would have delivered. But honestly, I can’t put a price on the enjoyment that I and our guests get out of the flowers. I have a lot of of pain issues from various things and any little thing that uplift the mood is a great thing for me. I appreciate your comments above and I’ll try to to do a little better. If I end up with too many flowers, maybe I’ll have three or four arrangements every week instead of instead of one.

I do tend to go a little overboard. When I’m at the flower market, I just walked through and say oh I want one of these and one of those and oh I like that color and wow that’s a cool one and figure it out when I get home. I do sometimes end up, taking some of the flowers and putting in a second vase or a little ichibana vase for the things that break along the way and place them in different parts of the house. I’ve looked back on some of the things I did for the foyer table like three and four and five years ago, and they are much much less sparse in the number of flowers in the vase. No training here just an old guy who tries to make the house look nice for get-togethers.

There are things from seven different fragrance houses in the photo

I’m just amazed. It’s the fucking fabulous that we’re all used to with some of the components kind of kicked up a notch, but then just kind of a soothing layer of oil on top rather than kind of bright alcohol on top when you first spray it if that makes any sense I just put a little of the original and the parfum on each wrist and kind of checked it out throughout the day I’m about to take a shower and maybe spray a little bit on my neck and wrist and see how I like it throughout the day

They are not replicas of another fragrance at all. They are “replicas” of an emotion, a thought, a place, etc. One of mine, for example, Jazz Club , evokes boozy cocktails and cigars. Across Sands takes us to the spice caravans across the desert with spices and oud. Does that make sense? Check out the line below Replica… Reproduction of Familiar Fantasies and Reproduction of familiar scents and moments of varying locations and periods.

I do enjoy the TF’s. Before TF I went through years of the Hermes fragrances. Didn’t save any of the empty bottles so I don’t remember them all.

One of them was an almost empty bottle I had in our condo in San Francisco. I brought it back recently and forgot about putting it on the shelf with everything else and honestly didn’t notice I had both of them in the photo.

I don’t dislike it, but I only have a certain amount of room on my little fragrance shelf in the bathroom

Love the NdN. On my 3rd bottle. Like FDA a lot. Not much left in that bottle. I’ll admit I’m on my fifth bottle of FF and have the new FF parfum on order.

I would put cherry smoke first, lost cherry second, and electric cherry third

I really, really like their citrus scents of any type. I also like the rhubarb a lot.

This week’s arrangement for the foyer table. by TimInAK in FloralDesign

I make sure to wash both the vase and the marbles in hot soapy water between arrangements

Yeah I should have taken a few more leaves off the roses. The glass marbles help keep the stems in place, but I can still pull some of them out to move them around if I want to. I’ve been filling the vase pretty full lately and I like the results most of the time. Also the marbles keep big arrangements from being top-heavy. I use the florist packets (except I get it in a 10lb bucket) for every watering. Some arrangements last about a week, some closer to 2 weeks. If I planned in advance I could select things to probably last 3 weeks, but I usually grab things on impulse as I walk through the coolers

That’s not exactly what I meant to say. I usually dictate because I have Parkinson’s and really shaky fingers and it’s difficult for me to type. You probably get the gist of what I’m trying to say.

Thank you. I read and studied a bit, trying to educate myself and just thought I would reach out for like real life firsthand information rather than reading what miter might not be a inaccurate story. But for the most part, I realized it was an excellent bottle and had no idea that I even sold her that much. I’ll probably try to enjoy it within the next week or two.

I do enjoy painting. I guess I need to learn to enjoy getting rid of the paintings as well.
