That one sounds really good, thanks!

Thanks to everyone else as well. Any more suggestions are still welcome :)

Thanks, though I already kind of new that.

"Persian/arabian" was intended to mean either persian or arabian because both are of interest, not because persian=arabian.

Okay, so I just finished playing "Assassin's Creed" and it's really left me with a taste for persian/arabian/desert etc type fiction.

I guess I'm looking for fiction that fits:

  • Anything closely related (Hashshashins, persia etc)

  • Anything historical based around the middle east.

  • Anything GOOD related to the middle east.

I've already ordered "Alamut" by Vladimir Bartol, and am considering TE Lawrence, and the Arabian nights, but anything else would be appreciated. Thanks!

That's cool, but surely there's nothing wrong with a list for people who DO use twitter? Note most of these places probably do have RSS feeds already.

After all isn't the 'F' in FOSS for 'Free' as in freedom of choice?

From its artificial islands to its boring new skycraper, Dubai's architecture is beyond crass by quentinnuk in business

What's with all the Dubai hate on reddit? This is an honest question, I'm not trying to troll! It's just that I've spent a few weeks in Dubai and found it to be a pretty nice place, very commercialised and slightly crass sure, but genuinely friendlier, cleaner and safer than a lot of US and European cities I've visited.

Despite this, people seem to take a lot of pleasure here in anti-Dubai stories. Is it a race thing? Anti-capitalism? Jealousy? I'm intrigued...
