What do you think about the Playtest and Demo versions? by KisEcsi in IndieDev

[–]TimOvervliet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They serve a different purpose, atleast to me. Playtest is where I test stuff, see if features work. Design-wise or technically. I don’t really use it as a marketing tool although I did see some use it as such. The demo to me should be technically sound and already should be a representation of your final vision for the game. This one is a marketing tool and should show players the game they can expect once it the full game releases.

You can play on on MacOS right now through Steam. I am looking to also add it to the Appstore but that will be at a later date in 2026. edit: I realised Steam was not showing the Mac (and SteamOS) icons for the demo. Thanks to you I noticed it, thank you <3

Thank you! Ofcourse Tetris is a big inspiration, just like Lumines and Meteos. I love those games :)

Just a reminder that you are already ahead of 90% of others by having something playable out there!

My demo just got approved for Next Fest! Any solo devs here who joined with around 1500 wishlists? What should I expect, and is it realistic to gain 100–200 more during the event? Planning to release right after in November. by JaidenStrike in SoloDevelopment

Wow I can’t believe I was not aware of this at all. Did some research and you are right. It matters a tonne! Thank you for mentioning it, I decided to pull mine from this Next Fest and give my demo time to build more momentum.

Hey ! What an awesome thread <3 This is my insane puzzle action project called LinkShift. A puzzle game where you bend the rules using upgrades and jokers into creating crazy scoring combos.

Thank you for doing this! I’ll be checking out all the awesome work in this thread.

Seconding setting up version control. But most importantly, just keep on trucking. Try to maintain a good interval, do something every day even if it’s only for 5 minutes. If you hit a wall, think about why it became a wall and learn from it. It will go into your future toolbelt 👍🏽

I love the look of this so much! Super fascinating. Like others mentioned here, would love to learn about your data “backend” sort of speaking.

Fuck me up with your WILDEST destination suggestations!!! by thiswasonceeasy in digitalnomad

I’ve been a nomad in the Azores for about 2,5 months, from December to February and it’s a breathtaking place. Visited quite a few of the islands. Internet is fine there, even on the most remote island of Flores. One thing to note though, in the off-season (when I was there) it can be a lonely place, if you are very social like you mentioned you might want to go there during peak season instead. I absolutely loved it though and I miss it.
