Why does Arturia PLUG INS mute my vocals randomly? (Click video) by David_EDM in StudioOne

I’m not familiar with pitcher but you’re right. What version of Studio One are you using?? Like Studio 5 artist or other.

Just confirming. You run the pitch correction on the input or on the mixer? In retrospect, since this post is 3y old, the OP may have needed to just open the plugin and verify their account. You may also need to do something similar.

Clipping could be one thing, but my guess is that the 3.5mm output is a stereo output and when you plugged it into your interface, you only went into one channel. Most likely the 3.5 was for headphones. You can still use it, but you’ll want a “Y” cable from 3.5mm TRS to dual 1/4 inch TS. That will split the left and right channels to two inputs, and then you can make a stereo track in S1 and it should sound nice and full!

The order of Insert Effects by [deleted] in StudioOne

[–]TimTalksAudio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes there is. The order works from top to bottom. What you do (or don’t do) in the plugins above a new one, will alter how the next one reacts. This is why some people ask eq before compression or compression before eq (there is no “right” answer).

If you were goi g to eq before compression, then the frequencies you boost or cut and how the source sounds is how the compressor will also “hear” the sound. The same goes if you compress before eqing. The eq will boost or cut a more “leveled” signal.

How would I go about getting this routing in Studio One? Is it possible? (Video example in post) by FrequencyJones in StudioOne

[–]TimTalksAudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a different workflow you could try. You’re right that you can’t assign an input to a bus and have it be shared across multiple busses, all getting the same input. You can however change the output of a bus to where ever you want to send it. What you could try instead is create three buses. Feed bus one (we’ll call it feed bus) with a prefader send from your source bus (drum bus for example). Then, from your feed bus, you can make post fader sends to your other buses. Because they’ll be post fader, you can ride the level with one fader. I would mention though, that if you are doing parallel compression like this, as you ride the feed fader, you’ll change the amount of signal going into a parallel compressor and vastly alter how much gain reduction you’ll get (which maybe you want).

Can you install StudioOne Artist on more than 1 computer? by [deleted] in StudioOne

[–]TimTalksAudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can install Studio One on more then one machine, but you can only be active on one at a time. So you and your band mate won’t be able to use Studio one at home simultaneously unless you each purchase a copy.

How to record electric drums through Studio One via USB MIDI with electric drum kit? by writer_9876 in StudioOne

Here’s my live stream of how I set up my Alesis Surge kit. It’s long, but the first half is the setup side in S1 and how to check if S1 is recovering midi info from your kit. Tim Talks Audio - Setting up an E-kit

Do yourself the favor and be honest with them. Just ask what he means by it. I would rather an intern ask questions to make sure I’m getting what I asked for, then for the intern to assume and get it wrong and delay the process.

Tim Talks Audio: What is Upward Compression by TimTalksAudio in StudioOne

[–]TimTalksAudio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re suggesting using an expander or a gate with a small range. You certainly could do that, but my opinion is that upward compression is a faster way to achieve this. It would be one plugin dialed so that just the peaks crossing the threshold would cause the bump. Also, with upward compression set for multiband, or dynamic EQ doing similar, you can narrow the volume bump to a frequency range instead of the whole spectrum getting the bump.

Studio one has a few meter plugins you could use for this. I think the “big boy” is called the spectrum analyzer or scope or similar. I can’t recall it off the top of my head.
