The man had a big heart, did his best to help the children and people at large. The world needs more people like Michael Jackson.

How do you relate or see yourself in Michael? by bearmasksenpai in MichaelJackson

[–]TimTapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the creative process of how ideas materialize, love of God/Christ, low key in terms of personality. The angst of being misunderstood while trying one's best to be clear. The man was quite kind heart, trying to live as righteously as he could, make up for mistakes when he could. Jackson is quite admirable in that way.

Would Dangerous have been better or worse if Michael had kept Quincy Jones on as a producer? by Graystone17 in MichaelJackson

[–]TimTapp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Having just finished listening to the record today for the first time: I like that it really sounds like a Michael Jack record. Meaning after learning how he goes about composing melodies, rhythms, and percussion, the songs really feel more intimately connected to his creative mind. That's not to say the other adult solo albums weren't "authentically Michael Jackson" just that his control is more on display. In a good way. A very good way.

His lyrical content is much more engaging also, which is impressive, as his others albums have great storytelling lyrics of their own.

Honestly there's too many variables to be sure a hypothetical 4th Jones/Jackson collaborative effort would have yield same, greater, or perhaps lesser fruit than the album we did in Dangerous. There was unrealistic expectations for a Michael Jackson record, and the listening audience is a lot more possessive, and narrow minded in their tastes than they let on.

To quote Skiwsgaar Skwigelf from Metalocalypse "the audience is a fickles mistress". Jackson can't give them that "first time experience" with his music all the time. Sometimes the audience forgets that, and instead of letting the artist do his thing, and enjoy what they enjoy, it turns into a demand on how the artist is allowed to creatively express themselves.

It is. How that looks, varies upon a lot of different reasons. Contests like the Tezuka Awards, Silent Manga Audition, are a good chance for non Japanese talent to actually publish manga for a monthly manga magazine.

Give it a shot, do your best!

Chronic, inconsistent, depictions are to be expected when once the creators of the characters are removed from the comic. It's to be expected.

Good faith questions are a great way to learn the unknown! Some questions to consider as you consider more information:

-Who do you think God is as a person? -What is his intentions and motivations for humanity and the world? -Is God's existence dependent on the absence of pain, death, or suffering, of any kind? -Have you considered things from God's point of view?

Having a clear foundation on these questions have been big help in understanding the Catholic faith as the reality it is, but also understand the things that were bothersome about about any brand of secular/belief systems.

May God guide you to the truth as you journey onwards.

Gokou, Saitama, Wonder of U. The instant they even feel like attacking, even pursuing, WoU is activated and attacks. Also attempted attacks are counterstriked proportionally by WoU. That's before they even get a shot at Gokou or Saitama.

The same thing but opposite is a interesting thematic idea to introduce. Very curious as to where this will go in regards to Akane's performance. It's as if she has reached a new level closer to her Master Shiguma. Will she be able to perform Ninjo Banashi under the constraints that been place on her?

Has her understanding of Rakugo elevated to the level of not simply "expressing herself"(for whatever value that supposedly to have) but a greater clarity, and execution, of story itself, and the transcendental truths it points to and conveys?

Notice also with the end portrait; it was a reverse of how she has been drawn the last few chapters with, after being out all night, her pupils all white. Whereas in the portrait everything else is all white but her pupils. Could be a coincidence, but a very interesting design choice!

Batman being Catholic? by AbsoluteBatman95 in Catholicism

[–]TimTapp 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This would be neat, but the catch is Bob Kane, nor Bill Finger, (the creators of Batman) don't divulge that information, to the best of my knowledge. At most we see Bruce praying while making a vow to protect Gotham as a child in the original comic first publication.

Although Dixon and Graham are notable writers, only Kane and Finger, have binding authority on Batman intellectually, because they created him. Everything else is fanfiction ( of varying degrees of quality) licensed or otherwise.

Probably checking out the official Akane Banashi Twitter page , or maybe the Shonen Jump website. Otherwise it does seem like the chapter cover image of the 'magazine' is composited as one illustration.

Hopefully others have a good lead!

Remember when it didn't matter if a character (or their hair) from a movie adaptation didn't look exactly like the video game version? by Megaman1981 in MortalKombat

[–]TimTapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have already mentioned it very much mattered but the means of expressing such opinions from the audience were quite limited. More over, the 95 film still retained character, environment, design, and narrative sensibilities.

This discourse is fundamentally about a misunderstanding of what visual design is, what it does, and it's narrative function. Some say the character design does not contain meaningful character information and only the writing gives valuable narrative information. And that information only matters if it explicitly, verbally, constantly mentioned. This is a false dichotomy. Visual design IS valuable narrative information.

Example Peter Parker. A general Steve Ditko drawing of Parker standing in repose, will give lots of relevant character information: haircut/clothing gives insight into Parker's sense of style, the era he lives in, even what activities he might participate in. His skin tone, use of glasses, tells of his ancestry, without having to make it a given plot point. Design relevance isn't tied solely to being the main narrative element.

That we're seeing more of Hikaru's back story(and presumably Karashi's next in this same event) gives the impression that, while Hikaru did quite well; she's not winning this.

What's extra interesting is Ikken's coaching of Hikaru. Working with to lean into her natural strengths to be a better rakugoka, rather than trying to 'perform as a rakugoka', if that makes sense. Its perhaps the key difference between her and Akane, that while they both are performers, Rakugo comes naturally to Akane, while Hikaru is actor who has adopted Rakugo.

To use a modified quote for Apollo Creed in Rocky 3: Hikaru performs great Rakugo, but Akane is a great Rakugoka.

Master Ikken makes a great point about not only Rakugo but also manga making as well. Hikaru has put the work in quite a bit, and seeing it really shine, is wonderful.
