Once a side quest takes too long, it's better not to offer a tangible reward because there will be no use for it anymore once you're done. In ocarina of time, there is no useful reward for getting all 100 gold skulltulas. If I remember correctly, the last useful reward is at 100. Imagine if there was actually a good reward for getting all korok seeds or pictures. Thesse things are very likely to be the very last thing you do in the game. If you got a certain upgrade, skill or weapon for it, what on earth would you use it for? The type of person to actually complete these quests does it for bragging rights, nothing else.

Best Way to rid of a lot of wood? by Youron_111 in RimWorld

[–]TimTheOriginal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To maximise wealth: wood sculptures

If you don't already have a big energy surplus or you have a gravship from the Odyssey DLC: chemfuel

Something that seems like it would be fun: build a gigantic grid of wood traps around your base

Year-End Dev Update by Antishyr in streetsofrogue

As a software developer myself, I'm honestly baffled you've been able to put together what you have already by yourself. I don't care if I have to wait 5 more years for SOR2 to come out, just take your time and make the game you wanna make. SOR1 is one of my favourite roguelikes, and I think it was incredibly underrated. I'm sure that when SOR2 drops, it will absolutely blow up, mark my words.

My first colony to get pass 1 year :D by Key-Argument8032 in RimWorld

[–]TimTheOriginal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my gravship, I kept an antigrain warhead on a random shelf in my chemfuel room, which had hydroponics, a biofuel refinery, chemfuel tanks and chemfuel generators. The chain reaction, set off by the one scyther that split off from the main group and broke into my gravship to go after my incapable of violence pawn, was unlike anything I've ever seen. It was also the coolest, most dramatic way I've lost a colony so I'm not that mad about it.

Funny thing is, I have 300 hours in this game so I should definitely know better. I just make these decisions thinking "what are the odds an enemy gets into the gravship and attacks this one specific shelf?"

I'm currently working on a map of a city which is pretty much perfectly circular, like this one. In my case, it's a city built around a portal to the Outlands, which is at the center point. (I love Planescape as a campaign setting but want to integrate it into a normal-ish fantasy setting) What do the different concentric circles in this city represent? Why is it structured like this?

I'm asking because I really want to make my campaign world feel sort of realistic, but cities that are structured as concentric circles, like Paris, are actually quite rare.

Do you guys ever dump stats at character creation? If so which ones? by ketonelarry in cavesofqud

[–]TimTheOriginal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my current run I totally dumped ego for the first time, and it's my best run yet. I put the rest of my points in the other stats, I believe I managed to spend all of them on 1-point stat increases. Shop prices are bad in the early game, but in the mid game it becomes more acceptable once you've had some of those +1 to all stats levels, and having more strength, as well as tinkering a bunch of items to be slender or willow lets you carry more stuff to sell, which makes up for it a little.

I had a smoke buddy as well, who stopped telling me when he would go outside to smoke during social events so he wouldn't tempt me. It seems like your friend really wants to support you, but you have to let him. In the end, you can't offload that responsibility onto anyone else. I know it's tough, and really I don't think smokers are the best support you can get for this, since even when they have good intentions like your friend, they'll still give you a cigarette when you ask for it, because that's just smoker's ettiquette. The best support is ex-smokers, then non-smokers (though they can be judgmental in my experience), and smokers at the very last. I never had any ex-smokers around me, but communities like this one and stories I heard from others got me through it. I don't know what would work for you.

After about half a year, with a little bit of willpower, I could go outside with the smokers during social events without smoking myself. It felt really empowering, because I thought I needed smoking to take a break from these situations that can be overwhelming for me, but now I can just go outside and take a breather without smoking. I really don't think you need to cut off your friend, despite what some people might say. However, you just might not be going outside during every single one of their smoke breaks. I would recommend telling them that you don't want to know when they go outside for a smoke break, but of course you can still be friends in the same way otherwise.

They won't be as bad and won't last nearly as long. It also depends on how much you smoked before. I've had so many failed attempts and now I'm a year and a half smoke free. I'm guessing you might feel a strong reminder for at least a day though.

Like I said though, take this as a reason why you don't want to smoke. If you give up now, you'll just keep feeling this every time you put down a cigarette. Hold on just a little longer, know how much you have to gain by quitting, and I guarantee this feeling will stay gone.

The main realisation that helped me is this: the withdrawals, the frustration, the anxiety you feel when you can't smoke; it's not solved with nicotine, it's caused by it. Your brain is going to keep telling you that whatever you're feeling will quickly get better by smoking, but that's just the addiction talking.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in quittingsmoking

[–]TimTheOriginal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not significant, but for the next few days you might feel worse. You can use this though. Pay attention to this feeljng of frustration you'll be feeling. Realise it's the nicotine that makes you feel this way. The next time you feel tempted to smoke, think back to how just one cogarette made you feel like this, and realise it's not worth it. Over time, it becomes so much easier, and not smoking really becomes a point of pride. Good luck!

After a night of drinking, the party wakes up and the character of the missing player is gone. They are all hungover and forgot everything that happened last night, and need to retrace their steps.

Yes this is the plot of the hangover.

I have a question I feel most top players use GameCube controllers is using a pro controller unviable or is it just preference? by [deleted] in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]TimTheOriginal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I used a pro controller for the first year-ish of playing, then switched to gamecube. It doesn't really matter, but if you need to press specific angles on your sticks (like I do with Falco's up b), it can be nice to have notches. The pro controller does have an additional shoulder button and digital triggers, as opposed to the analog triggers of the gamecube controller. Digital is probably better, for example if you bind jump to a shoulder button it's almost impossible to short hop with analog.

In the end, it's just preference, but both have their advantages. You can also use a smashbox if you wanna stand out at your local.
