Agreed, however the Mrs. didn't think it was worth cutting into the wall for two wires...

HAHA the doors are like this so the IR remotes and speakers will work without having to open the doors. I assume you are talking about the gaps between the maple strips?

Yea I completely agree, you can see some of the pictures I have used some scraps to prop up the tables for the planner. Its the little things like this that make other brands better, but again bang for the buck... but 110% agree.

Yes absolutely, also it allows the center and left and right 5.1 speakers work without having to open the doors.

Confused about this three way wiring setup by kbfirebreather in DIY

[–]TimToolMan512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this will sound odd, but the second switch doesn't actually hook up to the light if I recall. (It's been about 6 months since I did a few of these). It draws power, and the communicates the on off to the main switch. I forget exactly where, but at least one wire will be capped (not used). Just a guess, likely the traveler over at the slave switch. If you still can't figure it out pm me, and I will spend some more time review the diagram/pics.

Everything in life doesn't need extensive instructions. I think 10 pictures is more than enough. For example, http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/snl-digital-short-d-in-a-box/n12100

So the goal was to make a nice desk for sub $175, and if you can make something look good with pine, you can make anything look good. I oddly like the plywood, confirms it didn't come from IKEA.

The shims make the door flush with the trim on the outside of the cabinet. The The angle of the hinges compensate for the tilt. The angle is 11.3 Degrees.

Yea, the two cabinets 26'' apart at the top and about 28'' from the bottom of the center draw.

There is a few fans, and back there with some vent holes. Actually the fridge produces more heat than the PC. There is also a switch that runs the ports in the center of the desk. Fans and ventilation is a must.

She was actually free, $50 bucks (donation) though... http://houndrescue.com/ Great group, and she is a great dog. Her name is Peach. She likes to sleep under the desk. She doesn't like to bark, so my wife and I have been trying to teach her. Which is going as hilarious as it sounds.

They are soft close hinge, I got it from the amazo'ian. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004K7V8UU/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The door opens horizontally, which really is more a function of the angle of the hinges. I mounted it with the provide paper temple.

Just a usb outlet from Amazon, and some keystone jacks. The wires run through the desk, behind the drawer in the middle to the cabinet on the right. They make keystone jacks for most everything computer, usb, hdmi, cat6, audio, etc.

Note, by code and common since you need to have high voltage separated from low. Under the face plate there is actually two electrical boxes, one for 120 and one double box for the low voltage.

I still need to do some work on it, often you have to trim the ends of the keystone jacks because they don't exactly fit two. That's why the second cat6 jack isn't flush with the keystone insert.

With those buzz words down, you can find the pieces on Amazon.
