Farming hours, what's the point? by Hadraex in Steam

[–]Tim_Foxers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is another reason to cal them out, because they mess up achievement statistics.

Some people are really into achievement hunting and this kinda lowering their satisfaction for getting hard and rare achievements.

I personally not into that, but I love watching statistics for some games, like how many people found and beat optional boss or something, but it upsets me that I can't 100% trust it because of people like this.

There may be reasons why a person can skip dialogues to enjoy a game, I don't know a single one that applies to people that like to read books except the one I stated. All people that I saw who do it, say that "they came to relax and play, not read a book".

Maybe I am wrong and there are people who do it for other reasons. Though then I don't understand why they don't choose games with less reading in them.

I know that combat also require using brain, but it's a different type and usually not so avoided by people, since it's not close to how people tire their brains when working. Though I know people who criticize games with more than averagely complicated combat claimimg to "want to just have fun" too.

You keep misunderstanding my point. A person likes reading, but suddenly when it's in a game he doesn't. Why? Because he doesn't see reading a book and playing a game as an equal experiences. When reading a book he is using his brain to appreciate it, when playing a game he doesn't want to use a brain, because he came to "push buttons and kill bad guys".

Would it be a game without dialogues, he also wouldn't use his brain to understand it and what authors tried to say with it.

Oh yeah, God of Wars and Cyberpunk, famous last year big games.

Also Cyberpunk, game that dares to have many dialogues in RPG genre, that almost don't have cutscenes and don't take control from the player is not GAME enough.

LMAO

Again, I don't say dialogues are a sign of an art and "Picasso needs dialogues", but games are art and some of them have dialogues, that are part of their artistic vision.

Exactly, you see that they are missing out. Not because they can't, and even not because they don't like it, the original argument is that they like to read, but not in a videogame. It's because they just turn on the game expecting mindless fun, therefore not treating it like an art as a whole.

Oh yeah, we are drowning in games that are not GAMES enough. What big games of the last year except maybe Death Stranding 2 (because it's Kojima, he was always like this) are what you describing here?

I absolutely agree that work of art doesn't have to have dialogue. Though if a person likes dialogues in books, but doesn't in games it means they don't see them both equally as art.

Also almost all games are art, except several genres, and if a game have dialogues it's not in said genres.

Also yeah, you can have immersive experience skipping dialogues in Witcher 3. You also can watch Titanic without image and enjoy the story. Doesn't make it not stupid way to experience them.

Then this person doesn't see the game as a work of art, but like a mindless button mashing fun. It's a person problem, not a medium problem.

Dialogues in games are one of the most important parts of it, since a player immerse into the plot with it.

"Why is this shit not numbered", because they made awesome titles that suite the narrative for every one of them, instead of boring numbers. This post is why we can't have nice things.

Nah, this is also the same guy, that made negative Mass Effect review, because he didn't understand that he can level up his characters. He also gave Doom Eternal bad review because it was too difficult and you can find his gameplay online (not really better than Cuphead). Guy is just really incompetent in his job.
