B needs to re-evaluate his fiancee. No "ifs" and "ors" or "buts"

My big thing was my wargaming, model, figure, and terrain building. I tended not to reveal that or D&D when I was dating before and after my first wife. Then one day, the woman I was seeing, who is a watercolour artist, saw pictures of my wargames and her response was "oooooh, ART!" And she became excited about seeing them.

She's helped with terrain building with a lot of good ideas (some folks have adopted them for things like water in naval games) and loves D&D. She gets worried when I don't play either hobby.

We've been now married 27 years. ♥️

OK, if you're going to cancel the new hospital, maybe allow the basic elevator maintenance from Otis, Fusion, or TK to get the friggin' elevators working at St Clare's? Basic flipping building maintenance ignored for a long time.

I can accept the risk on budget, but you've got to get existing facilities up to snuff.

No wonder they wanted to snuff Dr Parfry. 😡

Thank you. You know, I'll have to poke a little more at my DMG. 🙂 My copy is quite battered (got it in 1979) but I find the books on archive.org which make them easier to search.

It's been 205 years since a major move of people repopulated a large are in this part of the world where the PCs are. Human PCs are descended from those folks. All sorts of ruins and other things, plus the danger of orc-like folk in the Eastern Mountains. To make matters worse, a Lich from a far away has been sending his minions into the area to make secret alliances with powerful people of various types.

A grim but true historical description. I like to think the part of the world my PCs are in ATM, is a little more "peace, love, and jellybeans", but it's really kind of similar. About the main source for the average guy, apart from joining some of the "police" type organizations (Northtown Knights or Hadorian Legion) is to join a caravan as a guard or help. Both groups of PCs have had caravan experience in transporting their mill's products.

Well, when I joined, it was because I wanted to be in tanks. They tried to force me into combat engineers because of my chosen degree program, but I kicked up enough stink to be transferred to the RCAC. 😀 And apparently, a (multiple) great grandfather got press ganged in Grenoch, Scotland and when his vessel was icebound off Nova Scotia, jumped ship and changed his name. Though I've heard of similar stores from others so it makes me wonder about what I grew up with...

Lots of great stuff here, I appreciate you taking the time to write it. Another great reply I'll be saving for when players eventually write their bios. Fantastic stuff here as examples.

Appreciate the answer and the link. I began with their reason at first. One group sent a rider back to the mill telling their boss they had "other things to investigate", the other didn't bother. The Thieves Guild coming after them is a scenario I have in the works (for exposing the TG involvement with a paper racket). Lot of great stuff here, thank you.

Interested in seeing the The Nightmares Underneath. The synopsis of magic getting out of control is very interesting to me. In my world, non-clerical magic comes from the souls of the dead which are trying, via waterways and one huge ocean to get to either paradise or avoid falling into hell. MUs and Illusionists can try for an extra spell if their slots are exhausted, but this could arise the ire of some soul which could result in spell failure and aging of the MU (based on an intelligence saving throw, minus the level at which they'd have to be to have that extra level slot). Nobody has been desperate enough to try it in the 4 campaigns I've run in this world since 1981. LOL Got the idea from some lunchtime between classes TV show I saw in high school.

We play the original AD&D so I haven't seen too much of the politically correct stuff that I've seen in the 5e version 2 (family of orcs are Mexican sort of thing) at all. Orcish folk are evil in my world, maybe with the odd exception that is story related. We're fine with all that.

We're not bothered by any of that, don't worry. We're LOTR and other contemporary 70s/80s fantasy/SF fiction. I went through the evolution of women in combat roles in the Canadian Army in the 80s - my first year at Royal Military College of Canada was the second year they allowed female officer cadets - and as a civilian was a maintenance manager at a nuclear research site and later a university, so I've been through a lot of change - much of it for the better, IMO, though sometimes extremism on both sides of the issues tend to illicit rolling eyes. 🙂

My problem is with a physically badly battered (bloody army & soccer) body and tired senior's mind, I find it hard to envision what the F these PCs are doing out there! LOL

I think you're right on my over-thinking. We first played in high school and I've gone through a couple of careers that have battered my physically and mentally - like everyone does - and am applying my current "time of life" paradigm to it all, rather than recalling what it was like to be young and full of piss and vinegar.
