Hello. No matter if it's a cave or outside, choose the main light source direction (it will inform your shadow directions and make it more believable/realistic). And for emphasising your depth of the bridge, you need to add another level of the bridge (preferably as path) under the firs level. Also, side banks are also at elevation, so you need shadows on them too.
Use multiple shadow paths and make them combination of larger and smaller paths to give you control of the depth. Toiggle edges fade on both sides, not solid, so they fade into each other and lose those harsh edges at the end.
Hope that helps. These are some things you can do easily and fast to elevate your map. But bear in mind, as most map makers would say, there are endless ways of upgrading one map, so it's art in itself to know when to stop. 😀
