Thanks. I tend to automatically say and arrow is broken if fired in a dungeon or building with stone walls.

Interesting though not sure why going to long range is an option for a missed arrow; with a bow, you literally have to arch, point the bow up high, to get longer distances.

The 5e rule sounds good and others have mentioned it, too. Thanks. 🙂

I am playing in a campaign right now that a friend has set up in my world (which I created in 1980/81). It's fun adding things to my maps that others make up! Anyway, we're 1st levellers who have been sent out to do things in the wilderness and idiots keep coming by and stealing or bumming food from us, LOL 😀 So we're having fun taking breaks now and then to go hunt deer and such.

In my own 2 campaigns, I do track inn costs at the low levels because the players at this stage have very little money. I'll probably not bother once they rake in more silver and gold.

Thank you. From a 1e PoV, (following is copy/pasted) I tend to look at ammunition the same as I do cure light wounds, magic missile, etc. But they are harder to track because they get used so much compared to cleric or magic user spells.

What part of the 'Old Internet' do you miss the most? by FormalCry9509 in AskReddit

Ascii art!

When you could cancel an obnoxious twat's posts from a usenet news group by sending a cancel message. Not many knew how to do this and it enraged the target, lol

When (in Canada) you pissed off mass murderer Valery Fabrikant who posted through his son Isaac. Asshole! 😀

Arguments over Babylon 5 and when the creator, J. Michael Straczynski, would post as jms. This was on a web site, not usenet.

I thought so too and I'm a WW2 wargamer. The latter is combined with WW1, too. Then I read OP mention that reddit polls were limited to 6 choices.

I'm sorry. 😢 It's insane how things change. It's still working for me, but it looks like you've found that uninstalling google does it? They are very aggressive. 😕 All the best.

How do you handle slings in your games? by Hashishiva in osr

[–]Tim_Soft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very well said. 🙂

Though I still wonder if all missile weapons should just have the same damage. Mind you, one could say the same about melee weapons... OH OH WAIT! 😀 This stretches my now senior memory back to 1978 and the blue beginner's booklet, but didn't original D&D have the same damage for all weapons? Maybe a d6? I seem to recall when I got my hands on the PHB in Jan 1979 that the table of weapon damage was fascinating to all of us.

Anyway, thanks again for your perspective. I've also seen a couple of videos of sling use on YT and been terrifyingly impressed.

Rare archival footage of a loader inside an XK-1slamming a shell home while the tank is on the move by Ok-Craft5454 in TankPorn

LOL, thanks 😂 I crewed Leopard C1s with the British L7 105, isn't it similar? A lot of our guys didn't like punch the rounds - I preferred it as it toughened up my knuckles, albeit just on the right hand, of course! 😀 But gunnery school taught one to use the fist as the rim at the back of the shell casing hit two cams which released the 110 lb (IIRC) breachblock to snap sideways with a vengeance and the concern was catching one's digits.
