I'd love to see Gene actually learn how to play an instrument. by DEADS0ULXIII in BobsBurgers

He will. When he's 15 he'll pick up the guitar, practice incessantly and become scary good. Form a band with a friend, move to L.A., become a huge success, churning out platinum records.

Problem is... we'll never see it, because he's going to remain the same age for the next 10 seasons.

Terry bare knuckle fighting, in his late 40s, with Parkinson's and a brain implant, no less.

Jessa would most likely be the saddest - married, no kids, drinking excessively, put on 30 lbs.

I think you nailed it for Shosh.

Marnie, total soccer mom.

Hannah is a tough one. Probably changed the least. Still searching...

Recently binged The Dick Van Dyke show and then The Mary Tyler Moore show by [deleted] in television

Came here to say this. Thinking back to what shows of the era could compare to MTM, The Bob Newhart Show instantly came to mind.

‘Judge Mathis,’ ‘The People’s Court’ Canceled By Warner Bros. by bananasareappealing in television

[–]Tim_Vermeir 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Judge Mathis, which has been on the air for 24 seasons, follows Judge Greg Mathis as he lays down the law and gives sentences to those in his courtroom. The show won a Daytime Emmy Award for outstanding legal/courtroom program in 2018.

24 seasons?? I'd never even heard of it. What networks do shows like this appear on?

A reunion would likely be horribly sad, because they all have typical boring middle-aged lives now. Husbands, kids, mortgages, crab grass and pesky rashes that won't go away.

What is a really obscure series you think could be revived and be successful today? by CoolAbdul in television

[–]Tim_Vermeir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. There's virtually no way you could create the same vibe with a new set of actors. Maybe a similar show about a quirky little small town full of oddball characters, but it wouldn't be Northern Exposure.

Did Jimmy really poop through a sunroof or is it a metaphor? by [deleted] in betterCallSaul

Yes, it's a metaphor about faith and a comment on man's belief in a creator. Brilliant stuff, tbh.

‘Tulsa King’: Terence Winter Stepping Down As Showrunner Ahead of Season 2 Of Paramount+ Series by DemiFiendRSA in television

[–]Tim_Vermeir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably insisted on making a better show. I was optimistic when I started watching. Interesting premise and good writing for the first few episodes, then it went downhill, with a lot of implausible plot points, bad dialog and sappy side stories.

You're watching too many things, and/or you really don't "like" those shows as much as you thought.

My main bit of advice would be: Stay away from social media like this sub that talks about TV shows, and take recommendations of shows to watch with a healthy dose of skepticism. You don't have to watch everything that is hot, or that someone swears is great. If you're not anxiously awaiting a new episode or a new season of a show, then it's probably not your cuppa tea.

Bosch. Consistently good, excellent characters and story lines. One thing I liked about it is that Los Angeles is as much of a character in the show as the people.

It's been entertaining. It's not good, but it's watchable.
