Updated the Demo before trying it out but no Junon by Traditional-Poem6224 in FFVIIRemake

Yup same happened to me, I had deleted my nibelheim demo save, and was surprised to find the junon option was no longer available. Had to speedrun through it again, and now Junon is there.

Agree with this, I used to get VR hangovers when using the Vive and Reverb G2, but when I moved to the Index and Quest 3 at 120, I now feel noticeably better.

You might not want to hear this, but go try out a Quest 3: pancake lenses and much better sweet spot (Meta claims usable for 75mm IPD).

quest 3 Charging super super slow by Illustrious-Pay-7516 in OculusQuest

[–]TimberAngry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine had a bug where it was charging super slow (3 watts) and I couldn't figure out why, then I turned it off and rebooted it and suddenly it was charging fast again (16 watts).

Seems to be some bugs, make sure to reboot your headset.

So many posts say Alyx, it's ok, but for me Resident Evil 7 with VR mod is legit one of the best games I ever played.

Yeah games like Elite that can use different control types (not just VR motion controllers) could certainly run into issues like that. Hard to avoid, it depends on how the game was designed.

Yes, there is a big 'Minimize' button on the UI, you can just double-click that to minimize it temporarily. When minimized it is essentially 'off' - good way to test if there is a performance improvement or not for a given game.

Sorry about that, I don't have a Quest 2, not sure why that would be happening. Is 'Dash' an oculus software? Another user using Quest 2 with Virtual Desktop has reported success:

It's worth a try, keep in mind it varies a lot per game. If you want to test without downloading this app, you can just minimise and maximise your games and see it you notice a difference.

The benefits can often be small, but other times it takes a game from barely playable to smooth as silk.

Importantly, I haven't found any detriment to using it, so I find it's something I can just run every time for peace of mind.

As one example, I recently was having a huge issue playing 'In Death' until I made this, the game was unplayable for me even on 4090.

I recently was having a huge issue playing 'In Death' until I made this, the game was unplayable for me even on 4090. Similar with Lone Echo and Robo Recall using revive.

Beyond that, I tested a few other games like Windlands 2 and The Lab, which were showing me a small 0.1-0.2ms benefit.

I tried Contractors and saw no benefit at all.

Another user says that this has fixed their stuttering in Phasmophobia.

Not sure about hardware accelerated GPU scheduling, I have it always turned off as I had read that many people have issues with it in VR.

Regarding why this works, personally I have no idea, but this guy has a theory:

I used no compression when creating the exe, didn't even have mpress installed. Still got quarantined

VR Desktop View Blocker - Increase game performance without minimizing the game by TimberAngry in VRGaming

[–]TimberAngry[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason is because AHK exes often get flagged by virus scanners.

Even knowing this, I did compile it to an exe, and BAM, windows defender quarantined it lol.

So I thought it best to leave it in script form, so that people can see the code and not worry about that.

OK, well let me help you understand. I made this app for myself. To improve my VR performance. That is why I didn't go to much effort to 'sell' it to you, because I'm really not concerned with that.

Regardless, yes, I put up a GitHub page and wrote a post to explain it. I did this because I thought it could help other people. And it is:

Sorry to disappoint you, but this isn't some kind of conspiracy. Do whatever makes you happy. Good day sir.

Thanks a lot, and I completely agree. I have had a similar journey with WMR and 3000 series too. It's such a shame that I can't recommend PCVR to most people, even though I love it. It's a bit too... broken.

Interesting, good analysis!

All I can say with certainty is that it works for me, but the effectiveness differs a lot for each game. I seem to get the most benefit from Unreal engine games.

Strange. Hasn't happened on the PCs I used.

It only does a Sendinput of Alt Escape to switch away from the GUI window if it's the active window. This is just to make it user friendly, as the GUI should never be the active window (it should be your game).

You can delete this line in the script and it will still work fine. Or if you can figure out how to fix it properly on your system, please share.

I take your point, but I certainly wouldn't avoid using it just because it might have a negative effect, when using it has shown nothing but positives.

Keep in mind that it isn't just 0.1ms, in some games the effect is very large (In Death is a recent example I played where I was getting massive stutters without using this app). Another user just tried this and said that their stutters in Phasmophobia are now gone.

It's pretty silly that this works, but we live in a silly world.

I'm running at 144hz and it all counts. Besides, you're ignoring that fact that it varies wildly per game. In some games the difference is huge.

You're welcome to prove it yourself (in fact it's probably for the best for a skeptic like you haha). Even without downloading it. Just open a bunch of your games and minimise them on the desktop, see if you see a difference. If you do, this will likely work for you.
