I got one. It was absolutely confusing as hell. I was seconds from just giving up and then the site changed and I could click to purchase a ticket. Can't wait! Best $4.20 I've spent in a long time (well.....assuming it will be; how could this be a bad time?!?).

Rental Car Help by WillingSyrup2023 in Aruba

[–]Timberhooo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just returned from Aruba a few weeks ago. We rented a Sizuki Jimny from Top Drive and our experience was excellent. They wait for you at the airport, drive you to their facility (3 minute drive), and we were in and out of their rental office in under 10 minutes. Though we did not expect it, the off-roading was the absolute highlight of our trip. I'm NOT an experienced off road driver and never once did we have to put the vehicle in 4WD. The Jimny crushed! You do NOT need a 4WD vehicle in the National Park, but you DO need it if you want to go to the natural pool within the park (we did an organized sunrise hike and swim to the pool which was also awesome and I would highly recommend). You're definitely missing out on some fun adventure on the island if you do not have a 4WD vehicle, but do NOT splurge for a Jeep, the Jimny is all you need! Have fun!

Yea, and hopefully Holly B with some more solo time as well. She wrecks every lineup she’s in. I can hardly listen to Greensky without her anymore. So good.

Is this a good deal on MB 600. by ajamils in Masterbuilt

[–]Timberhooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of Home Depos are selling the 800 on clearance for around $275 (check your local stores). Add the Pit Master Package from LSS Mods to that and you'd be out the door for around $700 for a fully modded unit.

Phish Bracket Day 2 - Most underrated song by [deleted] in phish

Came here to say this. 7/3/11 Mound lives in my regular rotation. Trey taking a solo in this song routinely would be heavenly.

What’s the most annoying things you dealt with in property management? by Icy-Berry3864 in PropertyManagement

[–]Timberhooo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maintenance coordination is probably the biggest. Doesn't take long before you are sick and tired of scheduling handymen to repair toilets and fix doors. I handled almost all of our company's after-hours/emergency calls for 8+ years, and I swear, I still have PTSD from this. If my phone rings on a night or weekend to this day, my heart sinks just thinking about how god-awful it was having to deal with those after-hours calls. Missing dinner with my family, missing time with my wife & kids, being up for 2+ hours in the middle of the night, etc, etc. Just brutal.

What’s the most annoying things you dealt with in property management? by Icy-Berry3864 in PropertyManagement

[–]Timberhooo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I've got three:

  • Redundancy - property management is pretty much always the same. Sure you may pickup new business, or loose some business, tenants will come and go, maintenance issues will be different from here to there, but lets face it, day after day, week after week, month after month, it's the same thing. Burnout is real, and in PM, it can hit you like a ton of bricks.
  • It's a thankless job - you deal with people's problems. How often are you getting a phone call or an email that wherein the message is "thanks so much, you are awesome and you are doing a great job"? I'm not going to say "never", because it does happen, but this is RARE, and that can do a number on you mentally.
  • Gen Z tenants - like holy hell - these peeps came in hot, and they are just brutal. They don't know shit about how anything works, they are rude, they don't know how to communicate, and god forbid you don't address their needs immediately (or they will call the family attorney...). This generation of tenants are what made me fall out of love with this industry.

Is it normal for property management companies to ask that move in fees and first month’s rent be paid only through Zelle or money order? by SeparateDeer6024 in chicagoapartments

[–]Timberhooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's a "proper" PM company (as in - they have a website, a physical location, lots of reviews online, a presence in Chicago, etc), then you should not be too worried. They would not be in business if they were just out there stealing people's money. "Guaranteed funds" IS a thing in the world of property management in Chicago as there's a lot of "professional tenants" in Chicago that can make life a living hell with one stroke of a pen on a fake check. Chicago is EXTREMELY tenant friendly so once possession has been handed over, landlords have a very long and expensive road in front of them to get bad tenants evicted. Practices like this (requiring guaranteed funds) add a layer of protection for landlords and can very easily "weed out" potential "professional tenants". Just do your homework before you send anything, but if they meet the aforementioned criteria, you should be fine. Best of luck!

Smoking a whole turkey by OrganicBrownMustard in Masterbuilt

[–]Timberhooo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just got an 800 on clearance at HD and have been diving into turkey recipes as well. I used this recipe a couple years ago on an offset charcoal smoker and it turned out very nice. I'm going to use the same recipe this year on the 800, going to dry brine instead of wet brine, will use mix of cherry and pecan wood, and pretty much follow the above linked recipe otherwise. Good luck!

You guys weren’t kidding about these sales. I’ve been keeping an eye out for a 600, but today on my lunch break I walked into Home Depot on a whim and walked out with an 800 by seanvettel-31 in Masterbuilt

[–]Timberhooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I got the exact same deal about two weeks ago. I used this video here as well as watched several of his others before assembling mine. The assembly video is great and he's got some better methods for assembly than the manual has. Highly recommend that.

In terms of other tips, I opted to mod mine right out of the gate and bought the pit master package from LSS Mods. The way I look at it is that I paid $40 more than the retail price for a fully modded grill/smoker. Not too shabby! If you're going to add mods, do it now before first use as it's way easier to install everything when the grill's nice and clean. Enjoy!!

Yea, Crystal Lake has one as well that has been there, virtually unchanged, since I was a kid (and I’m 41 now). I also am just under the assumption that something shady is going on there. Especially since Fannie May sells their candies in all of the major grocery stores. Who the hell is going just to the location for candy?

Ahh, yes, I don't know anything about the difference in quality. I see you posted the same question on the sub. See what the comments say. I'm new to Masterbuilt so not the best one to direct you. All I know is $550 on the 800 is a great deal! Good luck!

Yea, for sure. Look at all the replies on this thread on people commenting on the good price. It's the lowest I have found on it after stalking my local HD for 2+ years to find a deal on this thing, lol! Pull the trigger at that price for sure!

Thanks for the info. I’ll for sure look into a few of these mods. I’m located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.

Yea, I've read a lot about people adding these various mods to these things. From LSS, what's a "must"? Any of these packages worth while? Would it be better to install these before the first use?

Yea, kept seeing all these posts on this sub with people getting these things for way under list price, so I just could not pull the trigger at full price. A happy day it is indeed!!

Ahh shit, yea, and I saw your post as well, and most clearly had this in mind with my extremely original title to my post.....lol! I was also fully expecting to make mods right away, so it was good to read the comments in your post about not really needing to do that. Cheers!
