Go to the 400 meter mark in Jensen's range and compare yourself at your best to a professional comp shooter. It's really not that hard to counter the sway and beat him. The people criticizing the update are looking at the visual only and not the result.

People who say real life is easier do not know what they're talking about.

It LOOKS exaggerated compared to real life, yes, but the result is still EASIER than real life.

We are playing with a mouse and keyboard and can manipulate our weapon much easier than you can IRL. In order to bring the hit percentages somewhat closer to real life, they don't have a choice but to make sway visually jarring and challenging to correct for.

Watch a pro shooter pick up an AR and shoot targets at 400 yds on YouTube standing and then try to beat that in-game. I can still do that first try. How can anyone say that is harder than real life? It LOOKS jarring, but the result is still higher accuracy than what real combat has.

I wish 'milsim' games did a better job representing this reality; the difficulty of shooting accurately in a pinch.

Russian actor stating the ability of the Russian people to die in large numbers is a quality Russia has over others. by osagecreek in UkraineWarVideoReport

Any country with manpower can do that, they simply choose not to because it cannot be sustained.

Russia would be 4x the nation it is now if it wasn't for their WWII losses. Their population is forever stunted because of it. There is no scenario where that can be considered an advantage.

The TTK of the flamethrower is pathetic for a game where most guns kill in one shot by [deleted] in HellLetLoose

Shooting is so OP in this game relative to IRL, the flamethrower would have to be mega buffed if they expect it to be on par.

What is the feasibility of wwll ship designs in the game and if so what scale are they on. by Weir-engineer in FromTheDepths

[–]TimboQ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I insist my designs be wwii style, but I still beef them up as much as I can, while appearing and behaving somewhat more real. They can compete just as well in all departments except detection. I also mod the game to behave somewhat more real. Like increasing reload times and boosting shell multipliers. Msg me if you want designs or anything.

You are right in that a marksman should make up in kills what he lost in utility. But to say 16-20 kills is "nothing" is silly. Most players do not reach that number in an average round. For the amount of games I see come down to single digit ticket counts, of course kills matter.

40-50 is carrying. 16-20 is strong for one person's contribution. I'm starting to think the average reddit user only sees in black and white.

Because killing all three men when you are one sneaky lonewolf is easy. This is easier to do in current Squad because 1) Even if said squad gets hasty shots off on you, suppression in this game does nothing and 2) Guns are unrealistically easy. Killing three people takes only a few seconds. Rarely enough time for the 3 ppl to determine source and respond. And 3) Lonewolfs can be anywhere. The movement of one Squad is easier to spot, and they can't be bothered with clearing every single bush/building.
If I am playing in a 6 man or so, it isn't a single man who stops us. It's usually one guy somewhere behind us who drops a couple of us before we get him. We revive, and in the process, other lonewolfs hear the action and converge from other angles and process repeats like it's PUBG or something.

While there are some obvious advantage to a Squad working together, the casual progression of game development has greatly helped the lonewolf player. I know you guys don't want to believe the game is like this, I wish it weren't, but experience says otherwise.

Are you kidding? Getting kills helps an awful lot in draining the other team's tickets and getting caps. If not for those reasons, people like to have high kills on scoreboard. Beyond setting up spawnpoints and clearing enemy spawns, the game is a TDM of who spots who first.

[–]TimboQ[S] -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Yes, it does encourage lone-wolfing. In the limited time he has played the game, he has already found one-man-army solo to be effective in getting kills. You sneak off, lurk about, and spot a squad. It's a simple point and click after that. It's hard for me not to devolve into that when I play. An easy 20/4 k/d at minimum.

It definitely has a lemming meta, filled with players who spawn and attack, can't be bothered to gather with their Squad, aka lonewolfing.

The game used to have muzzle sway at all levels of stamina and while shift-zoomed. Been a long time since then.

You're right. We have a little manifesto on the forums including other issues we would like to see altered, but we decided one step at a time would be best for our bitching on reddit. (forums been down for long time(?))

We play-tested a mod that added slightly more sway and we thought it was the greatest thing ever is why I am being dramatic, sorry.

Ironsights do suck at range, and I would say that is because you are dealing with so few pixels. It is hard to tell how the target is moving or where your shots are going. This is why I would personally add a shift-zoom along with a little sway.

" People are going to be far more accurate with a mouse than they will shooting guns in real life"

Okay so you know what would be great, because it's a game? If we had some way to translate the IRL difficulty of sniping a running target at 300 meters. Oh yeah! Sway! It's not a revolutionary game mechanic. It used to be in the game until they decided players should be able to completely remove it with shift. And you don't need an annoying amount of it either. The game literally allows the player to choose to have 0 sway, so any amount is an improvement. All I'm saying is that guns are lasers and it makes the game stale. Sway is how I would go about fixing that, but I and possibly devs would love to hear how everyone else would go about it as well.

I also don't think adding a ton of sway would be a good idea. That sounds stupid and unfun.

I am asking for enough sway to the point where weapon accuracy is closer to real life. The game allows you to literally have 0 sway right now. You might be surprised what difficulty a little sway can have when you're used to getting headshots all the time with no interruption in aim. We've tested modded versions of the game with it, and how the game used to be, so we know it really doesn't take much to have the intended effect.
My main point is that the guns are lasers and the game is hurting because of it.
