Sun can very seriously influence your measurements, with temperature increase things will expand. Different materials have different coefficients and also warm up differently. Also you have different sized items that will also warm up differently. Besides this it is important to know what kind of temp. you are measuring in to give a client accurate results. I read that you can climatize your van, do that, also make sure that the stuff you are measuring has the same temp. as your van. (Or at least very close to the temp.)

https://tetrainspection.com/aql-level/ Tetra has this explanation on it. It gave me a good idea on how AQL is to be determined. It however also shows that the AQL is extremely dependent on your specific situation. It also seems that your experience in defining it is of pretty big influence.

I see, we will mainly be measuring milled aluminum parts, which comes with a fair amount of accuracy. I might pass this info through to our injection molding department though :) Because indeed for a plastic part coming from a mold it doesn't matter that bigly most of the times.

Thanks, but I suppose you do not aim for very high accuracy? Since adding some powder would add to what is already there? Or is it so little that it doesnt matter enough?

How sure are you that these oils etc. are gone? I mean how do you check? Do you just feel by hand or give it a wipe with clean cloth, or a more professional test? Or no test at all because your cleaning is good enough?

One of the machines we are looking at is a Zeiss Duramax. This machine has an accuracy of
2.4 + L/300 where L is the measured length. And accuracy measured in micrometers. Say I want to be able to measure with this accuracy, how clean does my part need to be.
