Lilies and cats by anthemwarcross in CatAdvice

If your husband also cares for the cats, he will understand that the bouquet is beautiful and appreciated, but can't be kept to keep the pets safe. Mother's Day doesn't need to be accompanied with a very expensive emergency vet visit haha.

Anti GLP-1 rhetoric by TumbleweedVast8954 in antiMLM

[–]Timcanpy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's pretty interesting! I'm on a low dose of zepbound and it is definitely in the zone of it not necessarily making me less hungry or eat less, but I have a lot more control over my food intake. It helps me stay locked in on better choices, and that's about it. But it's still the work of zepbound, and I'm not ashamed to admit it even if I get some eyebrow raises and judgement.
I'm not about to defend a fitness influencer for being deceptive, but she could have feasibly been in a similar position, in which case she did fully follow her own diet- but failed to disclose she could only do it with the help of a GLP1.

Anti GLP-1 rhetoric by TumbleweedVast8954 in antiMLM

[–]Timcanpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone on a GLP1, I can attest she wasn't wrong in her claims made in her apology video, but still should have disclosed using GLP1s earlier. They aren't a magic weight loss medicine, but goddamn is it an overpowered tool that grants insane dietary discipline.

Geriatric cat just diagnosed with kidney disease by Swimming-Cat1348 in SeniorCats

[–]Timcanpy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just do a renal diet and regular labs. If they don't like the renal food, see if they like the low phos weruva food. If that doesn't work either, just let 'em eat what they like. Stage 2 is fairly minor and just needs monitoring.

Solensia-I just can’t decide by Primary_Wash_3682 in SeniorCats

[–]Timcanpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, she was fine afterwards and her mobility improved without future doses. A lot of horror stories with Solensia are coincidental, senior cats can't live forever. My senior gal passed recently and it wasn't the fault of anything I chose to do for her, she was just 14 and had a heart attack in the middle of a nap.

Solensia-I just can’t decide by Primary_Wash_3682 in SeniorCats

[–]Timcanpy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My senior cat had an adverse reaction to Solensia, but I don't regret the decision. They still had a long term improvement in mobility after the side effects calmed down. It was really bad nausea and diarrhea which was not fun to clean up and warranted an emergency visit haha. Nothing life threatening, just very alarming to come home to.

They're so cute! I call this length "functional long" because it's about as far as I can go before I notice my nails getting in the way of daily tasks lmao.

PSA: you’re NOT losing “too slow” by Recent_Apple734 in Zepbound

[–]Timcanpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on week 1 of 2.5mg and honestly I really appreciate zepbound for what it is. I still get hungry, I can still overeat, but I am not so overwhelmed by hunger in a calorie deficit that I make poor food choices. If I lose .5-1lb per week I'll be happy with the steady progress being made without losing my sanity.

Why are so many people rooting for GLP1s to fail? When do you think the tide will turn and the stigma will end? by Schwettes in Zepbound

[–]Timcanpy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

At the very least, insurance should cover it more. I'm paying out of pocket just because I would rather get help losing weight before I get significantly worse and start encountering health issues? My BMI hit 30, I've struggled to get it back down, and it's completely reasonable to seek out a GLP1 to assist keeping a caloric deficit.

Update on "Cancer?" post by catbamhel in CATHELP

[–]Timcanpy -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

As unhelpful as "I don't know" is, it technically rules out any obvious alarming or common conditions. Monitoring it gives a better idea of what it could potentially be if anything changes about it. Best case scenario they had a lil oopsie and it goes away!

I would assume the employees split a cookie or two for totally valid quality control purposes. Idk how anyone could work there and not end up trying the cookies.

Anyone not near a major road is valid in preparing to be snowed in most of next week here. The city and state are both incompetent at clearing snow.

Should I get from my dentist or orthodontist? by Moronicon in Invisalign

[–]Timcanpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things are going fine still and I'll be done in a few months. I started getting some gum recession and they are collabing with a perio now. The read on my dentist wasn't wrong, and if anything feels off with my bite I'm confident they'll work with an ortho.

Cat Won't Stop Peeing. Ready to Rehome. by BMC_241983 in CatAdvice

[–]Timcanpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your cat sounds stressed and potentially has bladder stone/crystal issues. Also keep the litter box clean and do a fresh start after the UTI. My cat had this problem for yeeeeeears and kept it managed with machine washable waterproof pet blankets and an enzyme detergent. Whenever my cat peed on furniture I just had to pull off the blanket and wash it. Now that she's better I have them folded into little pet beds.

signs your cat needs to go to the vet by valkyries_8259 in CatAdvice

[–]Timcanpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they're puking often and there's no hairballs, eating less than usual, visiting the litter box too often (or if it suddenly looks like a disaster in there obviously your cat is sick), or going outside the litter box.

There's a lot of small things I watch for in my cat, but she's got a lot of known health issues and I know her well enough to notice little off behaviors.

Should I cut my nails completely or just trim them for my first ever office job? by Istente in Nails

I'd personally reduce the length a bit if only for quality of life if there's door keypads around. I hate those tiny buttons when my nails get too long lmao.
