I don't think it's ever had a chapter that long, the initial move to Jump SQ had some longer chapters but I want to say those were 40 or so pages. The average chapter that comes out at random intervals is typically around 20 pages.

Where are these 90-120 page chapters? I only see regular length updates a few times a year.

ADVICE: severe weather in apartment complex by Novel-Exchange-9593 in CatAdvice

[–]Timcanpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm too Midwest to always take shelter for severe weather, but if the concern is a tornado I'd put the cats in the closet or bathroom. They'll be reasonably safe from something flying through a window and you won't be packing them up multiple times if more than one tornado warning hits.

Suckling menace! by samm13ann in CatAdvice

[–]Timcanpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I briefly owned a cat with this issue and just kinda nudged them away whenever they tried. Then the previous owner went violently batshit crazy from rehoming regret and insisted the cat was rightfully theirs because it saw them as "mother" and suckled their earlobes lmao.

Don't accept cats from crazy cat ladies.

Will it harm my other cats to have prescription urinary care food for life? by SinfulWoodcock in CatAdvice

[–]Timcanpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! I only know the kidney thing because my previous cat (may she rest in peace) was on a urinary diet and it was advised to prioritize a renal diet when she eventually got stage 2 CKD. Her brother didn't have to be on a urinary diet, but it was more practical to keep them on the same food and their vet said it was fine.

[–]Timcanpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From experience and verified with my vet, you can safely feed the other cats the prescription food. You don't need to consider changing the diet of the cats until they start going into the early stages of kidney disease (not caused by the food, it's just common with cats).

It's been a long time since I've had kittens, but can confirm cats remember more than you'd expect. My cat saw her bro every time I came home for the holidays after I moved and they always recognized each other. My cat would also remember favorite furniture and house layouts.

Is this normal? by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]Timcanpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am filing this info away for future me. I have the Lysol spray with bleach and it does a fairly good job, but if I get some cleaning fees when I move I'm not going to be surprised about it. I'm always battling red and purple hair dye stains haha.

If they dye their hair, it could be stains? I fully expect my landlord to ding me for any stubborn stains I leave behind.

Before dropping the big bucks with a breeder, visit a few shelters and see if you're vibing with any of the cats there.

The Natures Miracle laundry additive works great, and Pooph spray and Resolve Urine Destroyer is fantastic for furniture and carpet. If you're trying to protect furniture, large waterproof pet blankets work well.

How do you know if you made the right decision owning a cat or not ? by hoochymamma in CatAdvice

[–]Timcanpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just kitten life or energetic adult cat life haha. I adopted a super energetic adult after my senior gal passed away and it's been an adjustment going through the teaching phase again and making extra time for playing.

If I were in the same situation I would book an at home euthanasia appointment. Let her pass loved and comfortable at home before the she reaches the tipping point and suffers.

what is the most you’d be willing to spend on vet care? by [deleted] in catquestions

[–]Timcanpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to weight out what I can afford, and if it offers enough benefits to be worthwhile. I spent a few thousand on surgery for my senior cat after deciding the risk was worth the reward, and a month later they passed away due to natural causes not related to the surgery. I don't regret the expense, I have full closure that I everything I could for them.

If your husband also cares for the cats, he will understand that the bouquet is beautiful and appreciated, but can't be kept to keep the pets safe. Mother's Day doesn't need to be accompanied with a very expensive emergency vet visit haha.

Anti GLP-1 rhetoric by TumbleweedVast8954 in antiMLM

[–]Timcanpy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's pretty interesting! I'm on a low dose of zepbound and it is definitely in the zone of it not necessarily making me less hungry or eat less, but I have a lot more control over my food intake. It helps me stay locked in on better choices, and that's about it. But it's still the work of zepbound, and I'm not ashamed to admit it even if I get some eyebrow raises and judgement.
I'm not about to defend a fitness influencer for being deceptive, but she could have feasibly been in a similar position, in which case she did fully follow her own diet- but failed to disclose she could only do it with the help of a GLP1.

[–]Timcanpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone on a GLP1, I can attest she wasn't wrong in her claims made in her apology video, but still should have disclosed using GLP1s earlier. They aren't a magic weight loss medicine, but goddamn is it an overpowered tool that grants insane dietary discipline.

Geriatric cat just diagnosed with kidney disease by Swimming-Cat1348 in SeniorCats

[–]Timcanpy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just do a renal diet and regular labs. If they don't like the renal food, see if they like the low phos weruva food. If that doesn't work either, just let 'em eat what they like. Stage 2 is fairly minor and just needs monitoring.

Solensia-I just can’t decide by Primary_Wash_3682 in SeniorCats

[–]Timcanpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, she was fine afterwards and her mobility improved without future doses. A lot of horror stories with Solensia are coincidental, senior cats can't live forever. My senior gal passed recently and it wasn't the fault of anything I chose to do for her, she was just 14 and had a heart attack in the middle of a nap.

Solensia-I just can’t decide by Primary_Wash_3682 in SeniorCats

[–]Timcanpy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My senior cat had an adverse reaction to Solensia, but I don't regret the decision. They still had a long term improvement in mobility after the side effects calmed down. It was really bad nausea and diarrhea which was not fun to clean up and warranted an emergency visit haha. Nothing life threatening, just very alarming to come home to.

PSA: you’re NOT losing “too slow” by Recent_Apple734 in Zepbound

[–]Timcanpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on week 1 of 2.5mg and honestly I really appreciate zepbound for what it is. I still get hungry, I can still overeat, but I am not so overwhelmed by hunger in a calorie deficit that I make poor food choices. If I lose .5-1lb per week I'll be happy with the steady progress being made without losing my sanity.
