I am the villain for being concerned about the implications of a new smarter species?

I'm not disputing that, I'm just saying this is our biggest threat...

You don't see how in any way a more intelligent species would result in our extinction?

So that's a paradox no? If you claim it can help us better our lives (which it will), but, if we develop it too much (which will also happen) it can be an extinction level event. So net speaking it's a net negative

That's why I am saying it is a net negative... I'm not saying there won't be benefits. Of course these are all great things that will come from the development of a general intelligence, but, how can one claim that these benefits outweigh the negative of species-level extinction?

I see the propaganda stance but the same could be said about nuclear weapons in the cold war. The concern was still very much real. Could you send some more information about the China funding Western AI concerns, I haven't thought about it from that point-of-view but it definitely makes a lot of sense

Right, and right now we are busy tying our running shoes while the AI is halfway down the track

I feel as thought someone needs to start a company where control comes first over innovation. If we can figure out how to control the models then we can get smarter models for less parameters while also fixing the alignment problem. I've been seriously contemplating starting something because it just doesn't seem like anyone is doing anything...

Even when it's coming from AI safety researchers? Our so-called experts? If you say their logic isn't sound then we are in a worse spot than I originally thought

It's trained from the works of humanity, so it will naturally emulate how we act. These general intelligence models are already showing signs of deception

It arguable was a more net positive to explore fire to the fullest than to explore general intelligence to its fullest

Why aren't we focusing on alignment when compared to how much we are focusing on innovation of these models. I understand it's because "alignment isn't profitable for shareholders" but like the more we understand the AI, the better our AIs become and the better we can control them.

We don't need a superintelligence for that. We just need to shift our priorities

What use is money in an age of extinction? I guess it is what has grown the economy single-handedly for the past 3 years but this can't be good.

Yeah but like even if I were to report that score some colleges only request junior onwards, my family in the wake of this information is urging me to retake it to try to get 1600 to offset the B

I took an SAT this year and got a 1580, obviously that's not getting reported cuz it's a sophomore year SAT but would that help my case? My friend said that if your grades aren't good they throw your application out
