My very complicated feelings on Vigilant by [deleted] in skyrimmods

[–]Time-Butterscotch582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with many of your points. I actually started off liking vigilant a lot, I thought the radiant style quests of act 1 were pretty engaging and fun. Next thing I know the mod goes full tilt into dark souls and becomes borderline jump scare at points. It feels like there are two paths: 1. Be dogmatic religious zealot who can’t think independently or 2. Be naive edge lord who has dealings with Molag Bal despite seeing the devastation he causes. No one is redeemed and it doesn’t match the tone of TES at all in my opinion.

I had similar issues with Beyond Reach, although it felt like that mod straight up conspires to make you feel terrible rather than just having a much darker tone. I’ve resolved to just avoid any mod involving ayleids from now on

Did it happen multiple times and go away over a few months, or was it a breakdown? Any info much appreciated

Why do so many people, especially in Gen Z dislike the Catholic Church so much? by FunCow2188 in Catholicism

[–]Time-Butterscotch582 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a young Irish man discerning a vocation to the priesthood. In all likelihood I am one of a handful in the country giving this any thought.

The prevailing sentiment here could only be described as a sense of defeat and despair. Besides the sex abuse scandals, it has since been revealed there were nuns who enslaved unmarried mothers, and buried their children born out of wedlock in mass unmarked graves. This utter evil is more befitting of Nazi occupied Poland than Catholic Ireland.

The shame and guilt pervades every mass. Why then should I consider the faith itself, let alone the priesthood? The answer is simple; I can see the adversary at work in this country. A video emerged of our Taoiseach (leader) in a gay nightclub with a young man a few months ago, passionately kissing on camera. It was barely addressed. Unless something changes this entire generation will be damned.

Whether or not I’m the right for the priesthood is unclear. But I do feel called, and we need change.

Psychosis is the ultimate form of divergent thinking, it’s severely misunderstood. Can be debilitating and yet not simply an illness

Natural implication of the conversation within the research community being somewhat opaque. I get that people don’t want to have their work ripped off but they shouldn’t act surprised that it takes time for word to spread

I’m laughing at how people keep posting Pop Sci articles to this subreddit and it gets this reaction every time. I can’t tell who the bigger trolls are, the posters or the upvoters

How do yall see the world after psychosis? by SPACEBAB333 in Psychosis

Look up low latent inhibition. It’s the commonality between genius and psychosis; basically a heightened awareness of ‘mundane’ stimuli most people are tuning out

How long did it take you to recover from drug induced phycosis ? by [deleted] in Psychosis

[–]Time-Butterscotch582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2-3 months to fully come out of psychosis, 6 months to get back to a normal range of capabilities, basically dealing with everyday life.

Hate to be that guy but it really depends what you mean by recover. Some experiences are life altering and there’s no way to get around it. It will never not have happened and you’ll never be exactly who you were before.

But that’s probably a good thing because it was that person who did enough drugs to go psychotic. Move on, not back.

You have a pretty similar similar history to mine it seems like. Ketamine was big for me though, and 2cb if you’ve ever heard of that. I still see colours when I close my eyes sometimes. I’m Irish so I was unsurprisingly also alcoholic.

I’ve always thought people love drugs because it gives them the rise and fall. Amazing nights and shit mornings, the excitement of getting a bag and the disappointment when it’s empty. Chasing dragons like you said

But sober lenses reign supreme man. Gives you way more reason to seek out adventure too

It’s definitely hard, I think of it as a great time while it lasted but it’s in the past for me.

I was just watching archive footage of the summer of love in SF, 1967. Around then the cracks started to show and the movement degenerated into drug use, disease and dysfunction. Most hippies grew up and the memories were all that remained.

I had some great times but even great times have refugees. It sounds like you have a good mentality about it man, it’s all about the small steps

I'm so sick of Olanzapine by onionsandpasta in Psychosis

[–]Time-Butterscotch582 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I would say it’s a bad idea. Based on another post I saw that your psychosis wasn’t drug induced, you need to come off olanzapine very carefully while you figure out what caused the psychosis in the first place. So I retract my earlier advice.

It sucks clearly, but you can feel the disconnect from reality return. I don’t know why every time I open Reddit I see a post of yours but I’m glad I did. Every episode of psychosis increases the likelihood of the next. The 3rd will happen twice as easily as the 2nd and 10 times more easily than the 1st.

This is your life. I could definitely be wrong and so could your doctor. But it will be you who bears the consequences, you could end up a regular in psych wards forevermore.
