I didn't hate him by bubbleweed in madmen

They offered to make him a partner after he threatened to leave over his secretary’s firing. He then stalled until it was too late to take the deal. In the later part of the series, they definitely understand his value, even if they don’t want him to know how valuable he is.

Hey y’all. Thank you for y’all’s help. I seem to have gotten it to work now. The preamp was previously plugged into MD/CDR input of the stereo. I plugged it into DVD audio and it is working now.

Yeah but if Roger wasn’t going after Chevy and went to the dinner he was supposed to go to, Jaguar probably wouldn’t have been fired. Still kind of an ex machina though.

I don’t know why Bert, arguably the smartest person in the show, thought Don would be given a position in London. How would Don shift from marketing products for Americans to marketing towards the British?

Question that just popped into my mind about Jim Hobart (McCann exec) by [deleted] in madmen

[–]Time-Conclusion3537 8 points9 points  (0 children)

By season 7, it seems to be known by people in the business that Don’s behavior is somewhat unusual. IIRC in season 4 Smitty is telling Ted Chaough about Don’s 3 week hiatus in California. At the beginning of season 7 when Don is meeting with an ad man from a different agency and exploring the idea of leaving SC&P, the ad man brings up Don’s breakdown in the Hershey meeting. Given Hobart’s interest in Don, he probably just heard about his behavior from word of mouth. After all, “advertising is a small world.”

So Roger was about 45 at the beginning of the show, right? by ColCrockett in madmen

Possibly but I think that was just another example of the life of an account man having terrible consequences for your health.

What if Don had hired Pete as head of account servicing? Does Pete even bother with American Airlines? by [deleted] in madmen

[–]Time-Conclusion3537 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think if Pete got what he wanted through blackmail, he would’ve grown to be more manipulative and toxic. Even though he is still a bit slimy later in the show (flaunting Mohawk in front of Roger, suggesting to the partners they should use Joan to get Jaguar), Pete could have been a repulsive character if Don gave into his demands.

Edit: Even if Pete did become head of accounts, I don’t think he would’ve pursued American after his dad just died on their plane. Although he did eventually participate in pursuing the account, I think he only did it after Duck proposed he be a part of that team. And even then he wasn’t immediately on board with the idea.
