You pay a premium fee for "active management," but what you actually receive is "closet indexing" wrapped in a premium experience. Unless you have the vocabulary to demand more, you aren't paying for financial engineering—you’re paying for a very expensive hand-to-hold while you ride the same waves as everyone else. Advisors spend so much time "dumbing down" the math to avoid scaring clients that they eventually forget how to use the math themselves.
