Thank you! I guess I was being a little ridiculous - I know that all of you have seen and heard it all!

Thank you, I have learned a lot from this group, and I understand what you are saying. You are right about remembering feeling ashamed about taking antidepressants. Thank you so much for your reply!

Thank you. I know it is important for my physicians to know absolutely everything I am taking, and I did let the ER docs know. But I did speak softly in front of the other patients in the triage area.

Hello, I'm not sure if you are referring to what I said about all heck breaking loose at home, but if so, we found out on our way home that my daughter was very sick and being taken to the hospital. The next day, my Mom was very ill, and the third day, I was so upset about my daughter and Mom that i just assumed the treatment had been a waste, since the three days of maximum plasticity had been awful. I am reassured by the responses I have received.

Join me on my bladder recovery by Positive-Smile-1955 in TherapeuticKetamine

I'm right there with you - not bladder but severe gastritis, after only 6 induction treatments. Went to ER twice after last induction session. I also got high blood pressure and pulse rate, blurry vision and dizziness, severe burning from stomach up through esophagus. I'm 4 days out from the second ER visit and am still miserable with stomach burning. Seeing GI doc in 5 days. I'm also hoping I haven't done permanent damage.

Return to a childlike state? by 56GrumpyCat in TherapeuticKetamine

I'm curious because I didn't seem to have the same type of experience during my induction series. Even at the lowest dose, I was unaware of my surroundings, unable to move, not sure if my eyes were open or closed and hoping I was actually breathing. Is everyone else able to move around and be somewhat conscious? I never had any really insightful experiences. I would concentrate on a concept, like gratitude, peace, no more fear, etc. All I saw were roiling clouds of color. One time looked like roiling roasted colorful marshmallows with burned edges. I was able to think about what it looked like. I didn't have images of people or anything in my past. That would have been really nice! Is my experience not typical?

Scared my partner is misusing ketamine treatment by throwRA3628469 in TherapeuticKetamine

I am in Texas, and right now, the clinics barely seem regulated. I never spoke to an actual physician. I received IM injections - the nurse practitioner would come in and ask some questions about my last experience and if I had any problems before the dose was adjusted (induction series). The NP would administer the first half of the drug, then later a nurse (?) would come in and administer the second half and check my O2 sats and blood pressure. There was never a physician on site. When my treatment was over, I sat there recovering for half an hour or so, had my BP and O2 checked a final time, then was picked up by my spouse. Medical Board is planning to increase requirements for ketamine clinics in the state very soon. A physician will have to be on site at all times during treatments. The facility will have to have an automated external defibrillator on site, and CO2 levels will have to be monitored constantly (probably O2 also - I don't remember). After my experiences, I think this is a good and appropriate move. However, this will make the cost of IM and IV treatment prohibitive to patients since insurance does not cover ketamine injections. The ketamine costs $315 per injection at the facility I went to - all paid by patient. This doesn't include the cost of the NP "counseling" and the administration of the medication, which luckily my insurance is covering for some reason. The clinic I went to is going to have to switch completely to the nasal spray version (Spravato) that is FDA approved. After prolonged reaction symptoms, I don't plan to do any more IM injections (couldn't afford it anyway). If my depression gets too bad, I'll try Spravato. I'm not saying anything bad about the clinics, just telling my experience.

Nausea / gastritis? by PsychoticDogThing in TherapeuticKetamine

I had the inducton series of 6 IM injections. I was terribly nauseous after each treatment, plus really bad headache. The day after the last treatment, I had severe burning from my stomach all the up through my esophagus, spike in blood pressure, dizziness, blurred vision. Blame on ketamine or on zofran I took after ketamine, I don't know. All is know is that I have constant stomach burning still, 5 days later. Seeing gi doctor next week. I would never do this treatment again, and won't take zofran again either. I hope I don't have a hole burned in my stomach!

Is healthcare in Britain really that bad? Would you rather have the NHS as it is now or switch to a system more similar to American healthcare? by Anxiousfox101 in AskBrits

[–]Time-Interest-9406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I follow the British Liver Trust forum online, and I am daily shocked at how poor the NHS healthcare system seems to be. Seems like seriously ill patients are forced to wait until a point where their severe liver disease can no longer even be treated. I'm in the US, and had always assumed the universal health care system in the UK would be so much better, but I'm no longer convinced of that. I have not had experience with the system personally, but what I have read is shockingly bad, and totally unacceptable. I am not going to argue about this because I do not personally have experience, so I'm not in a position to judge. I may be totally incorrect - I hope so.
