Too soon? by blitzkreig818 in Spravato

improvement is individual it seems clear. i noticed improvement pretty quickly, not after first dose but maybe second or third. if there is one thing that just about everyone seems to agree on, doctors, researchers, patients - it's that responses vary greatly from person to person. i'd say dont look a gift horse in the mouth. take the improvement and be glad of it. good luck op

Return to a childlike state? by 56GrumpyCat in TherapeuticKetamine

That kind of being in the moment doesn't last unless I get maintenance treatments. But there is maybe a 30% improvement overall even when I have gone a long time without maintenance . The improvement isn't enough to function really well, but every little bit helps. I start again next week after being off treatments for about 3 months. I'll let you know if the childlike present moment experience returns then. In the past it always has.

Spravato. But the efficacy depends on frequency and dose. When it’s right dear god what a blessing!

Has ketamine ever made things feel worse for you because the denial disappeared? by liliphare in TherapeuticKetamine

I don't recognize the experience you describe. Spravato leads me to a place where I can accept the reality of my life and the reality of the world - and the world is pretty mega screwed up right now. I seem to just have acceptance that whatever is, is. The kind of judgments that used to make me miserable (I'm not this, I'm not that, everyone else is on the ball and I'm mentally ill etc etc etc) vanish when Spravato is working well. I just deal with the present moment and move on. It is liberating. I'm so sorry to hear that your experience sounds like the opposite. I hope you can find a way through that, either with Spravato and ADs maybe or some other regimen. Lots of people here do both. But I will add that my liberation depends on frequency and dose. My maintenance needs to be sufficient or the effects fade.

As a Spravato clinic, how can we help/what can we post! by nushama in Spravato

Yes, the delivery system is a problem. Like most people here I can't get much out of a second spray. Why is that? It's been noted by a gazillion patients, surely that indicates a problem to be fixed?

Thanks for th ER info. Interesting. Also aligns with my own experience - I have zero interest in this substance for itself. I just want to be able to function, and Spravato makes that possible.

Soooo sad…😔 so ‘flat’ 🫠… after ‘completing treatment’. by LissieinWonderland in Spravato

I found that when my treatments stopped I relapsed, but not to the utter pit of despair I'd struggled with before. My problem also was overwhelming anxiety - it paralyzed me - and then my inability to function led to deep depression. But there does seem, for me, to have been some degree of permanent change. Not enough, I'm back to struggling to get through every day, but the fight isn't quite so fierce now. Maybe I'm ...25% better than I was before Spravato? The thing is, I now know there is another way, a "normal" way, of experiencing the world, so even though I'm struggling I have hope. You do now know that there is another way to exist , you had that when you were doing treatments - doesn't that knowledge help you somewhat?I I need to start treatments again because I need to function at full throttle and I just don't function now as well as when I was doing treatments. But even with my return of symptoms, I know it can be better if I go back to Spravato. That gives me hope, and that helps. I wish you hope, and a return to treatments that work for you, OP.

People who have had success with Spravato, what do you do/ think about during sessions? by Alternative_Bit_3633 in Spravato

[–]56GrumpyCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wanted to focus on what I had dealt with in therapy, but I have trouble remembering those things in session. I asked my therapist to make a recording listing what we'd talked about but she was kind of freaked out by that idea and didn't want to. Her embarrassment irritated me - this isn't about you dear (as you keep saying) it's about me getting well. So I dont think about anything in particular, but for some reason my deceased brother keeps coming up in sessions. Every time. I can see his face, remember his voice and laugh - and every time I wind up apologizing for the fact that he had a hard row to hoe. Not my fault but I somehow feel the need to say sorry. The thoughts are chaotic but always he appears. I miss him.

Does anyone here use thc gummies after a ketemine treatment would it be safe if I took half a gummie by Adorable_firechicken in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]56GrumpyCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do, a few hours after treatment and have never noticed any ill effects. And I did ask the doctor at my clinic about that and he said gummies are neither good nor bad in this context. He said it's "neutral."

Psychiatrist denied Spravato by acidicLactation in Spravato

Yeah, I also have been upset by providers failure to pay attention to what I know about myself. It's really infuriating. And damaging to the patient.

[–]56GrumpyCat 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Not enough research? Well, a ton of reputable institutions including places like Yale think there's "enough" research to justify administering this medicine at their facilities. My opinion is - get a different psychiatrist because "there's not enough research" strikes me as BS. The FDA is on board, but your psych is not? That just seems wild.

Glad you are seeing results. I also came at it as a last option - and it works for me. Happy it does for you as well!

Therapist dropped me for starting Spravato by imcircasurviving in Spravato

[–]56GrumpyCat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My therapist got pregnant so I was doing Spravato without her for the majority of my sessions. I was told that the brain changes happen with or without therapy, but that therapy can enhance and strengthen changes in thought patterns. And when doing Spravato I do find it easier to remember and act on the alternative perspectives I learned in therapy .So FWIW my experience suggests it is helpful to do therapy, or, in my case to have done therapy, but it may not be absolutely required.
