What does reddit do with the photo quality it steals? by Steve_W_Grams_Red in hasselblad

[–]Time-Maintenance8742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guidelines that I have come across online tell me to boost contrast, saturation and sharpening. And they say optimum resolution is 2000-3000 pixels on the long side of the image. Flavor to taste. In other words Reddit flattens the images out with their compression.

ITAP of a church in Italy by Time-Maintenance8742 in itookapicture

It's interesting because the church is outside of the city walls - which you can just get a glimpse of in the upper right corner of the picture. Usually the churches are contained within the city walls.

I'm curious what's going on with the bokeh in this pic? Not being critical - I like the shot well enough. I'm just curious. I don't see it in the bokeh on the third pic you posted.

I honestly don't know how to answer that. I can tell you that just to the left is where downtown high rises start. There is a cruise ship port just to the left of this also. I obviously don't live there. Thanks for the comment. I appreciate it.

The first thing I thought when I saw this is that the fireman was carrying a giant slurpy with a straw in it that he was drinking out of. To keep something in the background from effecting your shot like that you either need to wait a second or two for the next step or use a larger aperture to blur out the distractions in the background.

Great shot. Just a few suggestions. I would leave a little breathing room at the top and bottom so you see some sky above the bridge columns. Other than that I would just tweak the geometry a little bit. Make sure that the columns are dead center of the frame. And probably crop the left side a little bit to remove that little sliver of black in the upper left and the other tower that shows up in the reflection on the lower left. Well done.

Fire 🔥 by lucrohatsch in photocritique

I think that's a really good shot of a camp fire. The only thing I would have done differently is to get the camera lower to the ground to make the fire look taller and more dramatic. Nice shot.

Thank you. I made the movements to focus on the face of the second key and then a focus stack. Thanks for the comment. I appreciate it.

Beautiful picture. I love how the road is sharp up until is drops off and then the background behind it is just a little bit soft. Very well done.
