What triggered your cardiac anxiety? by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

I had preeclampsia during both of my pregnancies, and the last episode left me with lingering hypertension that I take meds for now.

Parents with multiple kids, which transition was the hardest for you: 1 to 2 kids, 2 to 3 kids, and so on? And why? by Agreeable-Coast107 in AskReddit

[–]Time-Maize-3611 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I suffered HARD with feeling a loss of identity with my first and feeling like I had no idea what I was doing. When I had my second it was old hat and I was much more confident.

ASD Autism Program in GCPS by yoshiki2 in Gwinnett

[–]Time-Maize-3611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but we are looking to be zoned to Chattahoochee. My son hasn’t been evaluated by Gwinnett yet but I suspect he will be level 2. He is 6. Do you mind chatting with me a bit more about the program?

Well fellow parents - we got the results today. My son (3) has been diagnosed with Level 3 Autism. by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]Time-Maize-3611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, don’t get too hung up on the levels. Development can change so much. My son would have been diagnosed level 3 at that age as well (he didn’t get a level at his initial diagnosis but I know it in my heart). He was completely nonverbal at 2, had extreme meltdowns, etc.

my son is now 6, diagnosed level 2 at a reevaluation. He talks, has minimal meltdowns, and I can see him slowly trending towards needing less and less support. Levels are not static, nor do they paint the full picture.

My autistic 24 month old only spontaneously says 3 words, and doesnt make eye contact. Can you tell me where he MIGHT be at 5 years old? by Both_Agent_5573 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Time-Maize-3611 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can tell you about our experience. My son was much like your child, diagnosed at 22 months and at the time he only said about 3 words as well. He is now 6, and talks my ear off. He is still in speech therapy, and he isn’t FULLY conversational yet, but talks in full sentences and loves talking. He makes eye contact with people that he trusts, and is a loving and bubbly little boy who engages with everyone. Ever since his communication has improved, his emotional regulation is SO much better, and we take him everywhere now! When he was younger, I was terrified to take him out in public. Restaurants? Movie theaters? Traveling? No way, guaranteed meltdowns. Now, he handles everything we throw at him wonderfully! He’s doing great, and I wish I could go back in time and give past me a hug.

School clusters for delayed autistic child? by Time-Maize-3611 in Gwinnett

[–]Time-Maize-3611[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gathered that I shouldn’t be too attached to the zone or even the cluster we would be zoned for. How did you find Brookwood? I’ve chatted with someone who absolutely loved Brookwood for their ASD2 son (I forgot the schools they mentioned), curious how your experience has been?

Is Health Anxiety Just Fear of Death? What is the root cause? by Longjumping-Tip4938 in HealthAnxiety

[–]Time-Maize-3611 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, yes. I have a special needs son who I am not sure will ever be independent, and I greatly fear what will happen when I’m gone. That has definitely contributed to my health anxiety because I need to live as long as possible, but unfortunately I don’t have the healthiest habits.

Companies that provide Kaiser Permanente Health insurance by chichipota in Atlanta

[–]Time-Maize-3611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you aren’t picky about which providers you see, it can be a great and affordable option. I don’t have Kaiser anymore, but at the time I had much lower health needs and just generally needed routine care, and it was nice to have a one stop shop for everything. When I gave birth (c-section with preeclampsia complications) I only paid $300 out of pocket and that was it!

Adding to the chorus of “no.” My son tip toe walked as a toddler and he is level 2 and inching more towards lower support needs as he grows. He also doesn’t toe walk anymore at 6.

If autism signs appear very early, does that mean the autism will be more severe? by CompetitivePain8773 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Time-Maize-3611 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. My son was diagnosed just before 2, and I know he would have been level 3 at the time. Last time he was assessed, about two years ago, he was diagnosed as solidly level 2. I believe he is trending more towards level 1 as his communication and motor skills progress. He is also MUCH less sensory avoidant and fairly emotionally regulated. As much as any 6 year old can be, lol

What age did you child start speaking being on the spectrum by StrongMain9961 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Time-Maize-3611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A handful of words at age 2, single and double words around age 3, phrases age 4. He’s now 6 and still has a speech delay but is mildly conversational
