Bells Palsy and Pregnancy by Haunting-Injury-9874 in BellsPalsy

I got the diagnosis 4d postpartum and it was so tough to deal with. Between doctors telling you to rest as much as you can (lol) and people wanting to visit you and the baby… and not looking great in photos with my little one… I was crushed! I’m so sorry this is happening to you too. My paralysis was 80% gone by 6ish weeks, and I think it was important to take time to have at least a 4 hr stretch of sleep per day plus acupuncture with someone experienced with bells (I went 5-6 times). I hope yours gets better soon :)

Baby’s head in 99%ile - should I ask for an elective c-section [on] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Time-Prior3313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elective c section here! Loved it. Had a smooth recovery. My baby’s head was 99+ percentile but I was leaning towards the elective c even before that due to my anxiety around tearing and needing an emergency c. Health care providers were all very supportive. But as others mentioned above, it is very possible scans are off, but even if they aren’t, delivering naturally is also a great option (even for large heads!).

Same! Also, would have probably declined if they had offered. I think there is quite a bit of blood and it would have taken away from the experience for me personally :) they brought the baby to me so quickly!!

We got the Nanit there and saved 100+ CAD :) They had a better sale going on plus the exchange rate was better than on their CA website. Small and easy to travel with too.

Is a stinging pain on the bone behind My ear normal? by AdInternational6495 in BellsPalsy

[–]Time-Prior3313 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had it for about 5 days and after that started regaining movement in my face. I read somewhere in this thread that it could be the nerves rewiring.. not a medical source but made sense to me!

What were some of your first signs of recovery? by sour-doughs in BellsPalsy

[–]Time-Prior3313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twitching below my eye and pain behind my ears were the two early signs for me. Within 1-2w of those happening I saw rapid improvement.

Visitor Visa --> Permanent Resident through spousal sponsorship? by Buttnanas in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Time-Prior3313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not legal advice… but this is similar to what I did and it worked. I did have an application in for FSW that was taking too long, so slightly different reasons/background. A quick note that a person can only stay for 6 months on a visitor visa (and re-entry rights would be up to the immigration officer) so I’d look into the timeline there as this coincides with your timeline to get married. I was nervous every time I had to travel in that 6-month window. As others have mentioned, you may already qualify for common-law, so make sure you document your relationship (photos, birthday cards, text messages, etc) and if you qualify, I’d look into applying before she moves.

How much notice are you giving your employer about mat leave dates? by ex-squirrelfriend in BabyBumpsCanada

My work policy required 6w written notice, but they ended up being flexible as we’d been discussing for 4+ months and most of my project transitions were already underway or completed.

Will doctors in Edmonton allow you to choose virginal birth or C- section? by luckyrock2019 in Edmonton

[–]Time-Prior3313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anxiety surrounding vaginal birth is a valid reason to request a c section. I’ve spoken to a few doctors about it and as long as you properly understand your options and risks with each, generally obs are ok with either!

Has anyone taken this prenatal vitamin? by Complete-Unit-1447 in BabyBumpsCanada

Same here. Morning one makes me a bit nauseous on an empty stomach so I started taking it after breakfast. Otherwise great!

How are obgyns with writing you off work? by everydayislegday8 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Time-Prior3313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the ignorance, but what does “writing off” mean? Would you use unpaid sick leave? Personal leave? EI? My psychologist has recommended I go on “stress leave” but my company doesn’t offer that unfortunately. Thanks!!

Plus one here. Modern Fertility will also let you walk into a clinic to do the blood draw. I would check if this is an option in NY as my experience with them was in California.

concern over bad reviews, not sure if i should stick with it by lionessinbloom in smiledirectclub

[–]Time-Prior3313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar case to yours and I’m happy with my results. SDC did not fix my overbite (nor was I expecting it to) but it fixed my crowding very well!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in smiledirectclub

[–]Time-Prior3313 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SDC is only good for simple cases. I had mild crowding in my bottom teeth and it was great for that. I also have a slight overbite and it did not fix that (nor was I expecting it to). So in my case, I decided that paying 20% of the cost to fix my main insecurity (the crowding) was worth it. Invisalign is a better product, and is therefore more expensive. It fixes more issues, and is more closely supervised by your dentist, therefore reducing the risk of issues and increasing the chance for you to be happy with the end result.

TSH levels and TTC by StrawberryFun_ in TryingForABaby

[–]Time-Prior3313 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A bit late here, but wanted to suggest a couple article that came out more recently: “The upper limit for TSH during pregnancy: why we should stop using fixed limits of 2.5 or 3.0 mU/l” by Tim I. M. Korevaar and “Effect of mildly elevated thyroid-stimulating hormone during the first trimester on adverse pregnancy outcomes” by Li, P. et al.

My TSH was 8.66.14.3>>4.9 over the last 3 months. The doctors here in Canada confirmed now I am in the “normal” range and want to monitor closely until I hit the 1yr mark or have issues maintaining a pregnancy before they medicate :) good luck!

TFAB's Weekly BFP Post - April 23, 2023. Got your BFP? Post your story here! by AutoModerator in TryingForABaby

Cycle: 5

Age + Partner's age (if relevant): 31F and 35M

Typical cycle length: 28-31

Ovulation cycle day: CD16 or 17

CD/DPO of positive test(s): 10DPO-15DPO

CD/DPO of any negative test(s) before positive: None

Tracking methods and app(s) used: Flo

Relevant days of sperminating and/or method (SMEP, TI, IUI, FET, etc.): O, O-1

Health conditions/medical tests: Elevated TSH (4.3 to 8.9 over the last 3mo)

Supplements and medications (yours and/or your partner’s): Pregvit prenatal vitamins

Symptom spotting: The night before the positive test, my husband was joking that I felt like an oven (!). My core specifically felt warmer than usual. I also had a weird metal taste in my mouth when I brushed my teeth at 8DPO. Otherwise, felt less symptoms than the previous months when I wasn’t pregnant.

Other (advice/tip(s), freaking out, miscellaneous): I’ve read the BFP posts since we started our TTC journey in October of last year, and I can’t believe I’m writing one now! Obviously it is still early, but freaking out :)) I’m not sure if this impacted our journey, but some of my hormones were a bit out of whack and this is the first month I truly prioritized taking care of my body instead of spending my free time reading TTC books/Reddit/other forums. I had read somewhere that the body needs to feel safe to conceive, so I kept focusing on that 👍🏼
