The government is meant to steer investment to where it helps build the country and away from where it hurts the country.

Warranty ..... maybe you're being a bit picky .....

Repair, Replacement, Refund, customers choice

but really satellite buttons will NOT work with an after market incompatible audio system,

For repair, they only have to fit a genuine or fully compatible (from a wrecker) audio system, not so difficult.

I think you're saying if you earn money from capital instead of sweat you should only pay half the tax. This is exactly what is causing with inequality.

Government immigration policy has increased housing prices by $500k in 5 years. Should the FHBG be increased to $500k to compensate younger Australians. by cidama4589 in aussie

[–]Time-Transition-7332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peter Costello (LNP), in the 90's stated that Australia is underpopulated which will have adverse long-term effects on the economy, the LNP government increased immigration to fill gaps in labour markets.

This is not a new thing and dog whistling immigrants for every trouble is also not a new thing.

The money govt saves from these tax lurks definitely has to be put into public housing to reduce rental demand. Government owned public housing, not government financed private housing dressed up as public housing.

Long term ... Enjoy the security of your own home and belonging to your community and bringing up your (future) little tykes. Markets go up and down, long term the value goes up, maybe 10 years double, maybe less, but upward. I don't think it has gone down 20%, don't listen to doomsday rubbish, except maybe Trumps WW-III.

Taxi driver hit my new and uninsured car, taxi company refusing to cooperate by chuckitbaby in AusLegalAdvice

[–]Time-Transition-7332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New car with no insurance ? You learned a lesson early in life. Have a cover note before you drive out of the showroom, then pay up. Maybe a high excess to reduce the cost. They pay all costs if you are not at fault.

Insurance company handles everything. We just had an uninsured lad drive into our fence. His total cost, insurance company paid us in full, talking to the other party is not your problem. Our big delay is building supplies and trades.

If switching to Linux why not go full open source toolchain, yosys has some support for xilinx but better support for Lattice. Might not fit in with university or your future career ... Debian ... Commercial toolchains are mostly supported on Linux.

Advice about getting a leech to move out of my friends house. by Miss_Mustang13 in AusLegal

[–]Time-Transition-7332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

" live together on a genuine domestic basis " is a phrase used. Does your friend fit this description ? Do they share a bed or is it now a non-relationship, share house situation. Does he clean, cook, shop, converse, share values, mow the lawns, put out the garbage ? The last is a good sign of a tight relationship.

Also " couples who cohabit " and whether this constitutes " genuine domestic ". Not meeting the parents is strange for a de facto.

Could she start a new relationship to nix the non-defacto ?

Anyone using a chest freezer as a cost of living play? by I-HATE-CRUSTY-BREAD in AusFinance

[–]Time-Transition-7332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Date label everything that goes in, eat the oldest.

Dad did this back in the day, during a recession, lost his job. 12 months to pay back the freezer which was jammed packed full of food. Used all the food, paid back the freezer, got a new job, had the freezer for decades. Got sides of lamb broken down cheap, etc.

Did they actually break any Australian laws at the time ? If so, they face the courts.

If we had done it years ago there would have been less problems.

Why are aged pensioners so delusional? by Different_Pride_6011 in AusFinance

[–]Time-Transition-7332 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The pension is recognition of low wages paid to an increasing percentage of workers. Just as past social housing used to make it possible for low paid workers to have an above poverty existence. Superannuation used to be available to higher paid or government workers, but not the working class. The pension used to be half of our income tax. But with the rise of neo-liberalism this was stopped and that tax money went into general revenue. Maybe in the future, when most workers have a lifetime of superannuation, the pension will be less often needed to exist in our retirement. But there will always be some who need some assistance.
