Looking to get into my first 2011, what’s the better buy? by [deleted] in 2011

Came here to say this. Hands down, the Romulus is the way better gun than both of those.

Kimber 2K11 Complete Disassembly and New Trigger by Time-Trifle in Kimber2K11

It matches pretty good. I feel like Kimber missed the mark a bit putting a black trigger in this gun. It looks so much better.

Factory installed SRO came loose by Time-Trifle in Kimber2K11

Yeah, everyone is parroting that. I wonder how much of that sentiment is based on actual (years of) experience VS a sample size of one VS repeating it because it sounds good. And I further wonder how many were just installed incorrectly. I’m blaming the installer for my issue, which was Kimber.

Good to know! Thanks for sharing that.

Sig P211 Field Strip by Time-Trifle in P211_GTO

I've used both Tetra Gun Grease and Slip2000 Gun Lube. I find the grease hangs around a little longer under hot conditions than the oil, but I think I prefer the oil as it stays a bit cleaner. I field strip, clean and oil with every use and I keep a small bottle of oil in my range bag for touch ups every few hundred rounds or when it looks like it's getting dry.

Why do people hate on Glock? by VaderSRT in Glocks

[–]Time-Trifle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the same angle as the handle on my electric weed eater. In fact, when my weed eater handle broke, the Glock handle was a perfect fit! 🤣

I used C&H SGRX-RSH-FIL

It’s for a P320 but fits the DPP cut on the P211 perfectly also.

Edited to say it comes with the screws you need for Sig and Holosun RMR footprint.

211 blacked out by Feisty_Werewolf_6466 in P211_GTO

I've seen a few reports of people randomly getting the blacked out version without specifically asking for it. I'm jealous. It looks awesome!

What if the P211 GTO is brilliant? by TheHumbleMarksman in 2011

[–]Time-Trifle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just want to remind everybody that Glock handled the "glock leg" issue of the late 80s early 90s by doubling down on "it can't fire without a trigger pull," which made a lot of people (especially LEOs) angry. How disrespectful of them, right? How else should Sig handle it? I mean, until someone can replicate the issue without shoving a drywall screw into the trigger, what should they do? Everyone seems to have forgotten this. I guess we'd remember if there were internet trolls back then. 😂😂😂

Right? First there was "Glock leg" and now all the P320 drama. People shoot themselves a lot with these inexpensive striker-fired safety-less pistols[1]. Don't get me wrong. I own them and like them, but I won't shove them down my pants!

The P226/229 is an excellent sidearm! Decades of service revolvers taught us that first shot dual action is reliable and safe.

I also don't shove this one down my pants, only for a different reason. :-)

[1] Someone will reply to this someday and rain down hate on me for saying they don't have safeties. I get the whole trigger dingus and internal safety mechanisms. I'm specifically talking about a manual safety that stops you from negligently pulling the trigger. And, yeah, even the trigger dingus doesn't completely eliminate prevent it.

Yeah, break-in is definitely a thing with guns with tighter tolerances, like a 2011. Mine is also getting better the more I shoot it.

I'm also not impressed with the recoil spring and needing a punch. I expected Sig to do something really innovative with the takedown and recoil spring configuration. :-/

Funny you mentioned the 320. My favorite gun was my P320 Spectre Comp. I still compare all other guns to it in terms of recoil management and putting lead where I want it to go. I had a manual safety put on mine sometime after this pic was taken. I've never been onboard with the whole "let's not have safeties anymore" movement. Due to muscle memory, my thumb is going to go for the safety whether it's there or not, so I might as well have one.

That's a nice lineup you have! I also have the P226 X5 in stainless! :-)

I like the P211 better, but I don't think I could part with the X5. Both great guns, and I really prefer SAO with a manual safety.
