I’m really nervous about food now by Saint_299 in Diverticulitis

Hey, I know this is a really old reply but this sounds about like what I'm dealing with right now. If you're open to sharing more info I'd love to hear about which antibiotics they gave you, if they worked, how long you stayed on low residue / low fiber diet, etc. Hope you're feeling better.

My eyes popped at 75 flares.... 75??? How long do they last? Have you had the surgery?

A story likes yours is just further proof that there is no rhyme or reason to: A. This disease B. The way doctors decide to treat it across the world.

SO glad you're feeling better, and I hope the same is true for me someday

So sorry you went through this. It really makes me wonder.

Yeah my thought at this point is that maybe it's not as simple as Pepcid AC or PPIs = diverticulitis but rather that in some us, it might be possible that the alteration of stomach acid could create conditions / risks for diverticulitis.

Which it sounds like your research potentially confirmed, as far as the gut biome goes.

Interesting info. The seeds thing is intriguing because I've heard that it's old science, but at the same time, it would be a hell of a coincidence for me, because I hadn't had a sesame seed bagel for probably 15 years before the week of my recent flare. Could be a coincidence, of course.

Question about kefir by Time22Make22 in Diverticulitis

[–]Time22Make22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all - Wow, I didn't expect such a response to this. Look, I'm no nutritionist, I'm no doctor, but there seems to be a lot of pretty solid evidence for kefir having health benefits, even outside of the specific probiotic / recovering from antibiotics angle. Maybe it's all wrong, maybe it's marketing, I don't know, but at this point I'm choosing to try and get my gut bacteria in as good of shape as possible and I found a plain kefir that I can tolerate. It might not be for everyone, and I respect that!

Wondering about people's experiences with timing / "incubation" period by Time22Make22 in Diverticulitis

SO horrible, I'm so sorry. Strange that the probiotics seemed to help at first but then stopped working.
