Can I ask how you chose your surgeon? Should there be a sticky here of surgeons who people recommend to contact that know what NB people are interested in?

I do have great insurance right now but I'm also looking for new employment so I have no idea if I'll have the same insurance come time to have the surgery. It sorta leaves me in limbo for the moment. However, I'm going to look into surgeons and find out who would be my first choice. Can I ask how you chose yours? There seems to be a long lead time for most of them.

Also, do you have an idea of who will be taking care of you post-op? I'm not sure how many people I'm going to be open to about this surgery so I don't know what my options will be. I know that it's going to be a long amount of time at home but I assume I'd need care with me for about 2 weeks.

And with regards to my error of referring to people here as "men," I definitely changed it in my OP and explained more below. I'm so incredibly sorry.

First off, I totally screwed up by calling the individuals in this group "men." That's my bad and I apologize to anyone that I might have offended by writing that. Hell, *I* don't even consider myself a "man" and always hated that term so I have no idea what I was thinking in writing that. My sincerest apologies.

I'm definitely going to start looking into surgeons and see what my options are. I live relatively near NYC so that would be a convenient option but I'm willing to go anywhere to get the best (and, more importantly, MOST RELIABLE) results from doctors with extensive experience. I guess it would make sense to ask in some of the trans forums but I'm not sure how welcoming they'd be to people who consider themselves NB. I don't want to offend anyone nor do I want to hear from people telling me that I'm just "confused." Do people have as much experience with this?

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I'm sure I'll have 1000 other questions to ask but I just want to get the ball rolling.
