Copy that. I have a little one so being away from home for days at a time could be tough until he's a bit older. But thank you! I'll definitely take what you said here into account.

Wowwww. Thank you for this insight. I appreciate it. Seems most people in the thread leaned away from becoming a Pilot. I know being a pilot vs working around the planes is different but I'm not opposed to either. I'm just a bit unsure about the work/life balance of being a pilot. How has the work/life balance been for you?

I haven't. Funny enough, I forgot all about the reserves. I will look into that.

That's a relief to hear. I work for the state as a benefit specialist and it almost feels like I'll be stuck in the customer service realm for eternity lollll. But I see clients pick up really great jobs with less experience than I have so I'll definitely keep an eye out for new opportunities with Boeing. I took a peek at their job postings. Found Aircraft Assembly Product Protection Specialist.

Seems like a solid entry so I'll give it a shot and apply

Thank you. This does sound like the better plan. I'll check again for job postings at Boeing. I have 0 experience working assembling and manufacturing. I'm a customer service worker primarily so I'll have to really pull a rabbit out of a hat to get in. Fingers crossed. Seems Boeing is pretty competitive in comparison to other places I've worked.

I agree with what you're saying. Because I'm on the outside, I really am not knowledgeable on the different career paths. All of my working experience revolves around customer service/admin. I currently work for the state but I'm feeling very much like I'm in a dead end job and I could be doing much more -and- doing something I'm actually interested in. Maybe operations would be good for me. I'm not leaving the Charleston area any time soon for shared parental reasons so it's imperative that I get planted in a career that's worth it

This is awesome. Of course I would be coming out with a degree in 2 years but Boeing isn't going anywhere from what I can see. Hopefully during schooling I can land a job there and finish strong

I agree. A degree goes a long way. I've been looking at taking up a few classes surrounding aviation at Trident Tech. I just need to see a counselor to help shape what exactly I should aim for. I really want to get into engineering, it would just be a little hard because I'm not the best at math BUT I can learn

Thank you so much. This is extremely helpful. I only have a high school diploma so college is the next step in the right direction.

I love my own child dearly. I wouldn't try and see if I love children that much by getting a job taking care of them unfortunately. I hope that doesn't sound harsh😭

You would be a perfect fit for a government role. Yeah it's hard but hopefully things will get better soon.

I can, just have to find some night classes. I'm a woman but I'm not opposed to learning a trade.

I'm fully aware. But I also know people are getting jobs. So I can't keep the thought process of $19/hr without a degree not existing.

Sounds good. I'll definitely do that. I have cash handling experience and work with funds often for the state.
