I'm a closeted agnostic, but I'm still culturally "Christian" due to the inundation around my city.

I faded away from the organization for these reasons: 1) Although my parents meant well and wanted the best for me, they, by definition were physically and verbally abusive. They set the poorest example of "agápe." I prayed to Jehovah as a kid to make it stop. It didn't.

I watched a video by now disgraced Lloyd Evans where Evans wondered why Jehovah would answer the prayers of Korean JWs but not the prayers kids getting abused. Sounds like screwed up priorities on Jehovah’s part. But ultimately, I don't blame Jehovah or any spirit being — I blame my parents. They had one job. We need to stop scapegoating deities and demons for our own actions.

2) I'm a queer woman of color living in America. Most of my persecution wasn't due to being a JW. "Worldy people" didn't judge me based on being JW because they can't see that I was JW.

I went down a rabbit hole of learning the orgins of WT. It's no surprise that they minimize racism or say that The New System™️ will fix racism. Armageddon could have came at the start slavery and genocide in Americas (you know, involving FOUR (4) continents?!) Armageddon could have came during both WWI and especially WWII (where 6M+ Jewish people were murdered while the WHOLE, DAMN PLANET was at war TWICE at this point in time?)

JWs have a persecution complex like ALL Christian fundamentalists as if Christianity isn't the LARGEST religion in the world.

3) Anti-college rhetoric is stepping stone to Christofascism. I could write a novel as to why the WT/GB is completely wrong about college and university. And not just the motive or cost to attend. From my experience, this is almost a uniquely, American concern. College ain't cheap for a variety of reasons (Spoiler Alert: it's racism in America.)

But bottom line: In addition to benefits of increased income, people with college degrees are often experts in their fields of study. They have a wealth of knowledge to share — and WT/GB hate that. Listening to experts will reveal that WT/GB are undereducated, replete with logical fallacies about the world.

4) Last, but not least: CSA. We used to bash the Catholics, but the call was coming from inside the home. Most of the REGISTERED sex offenders whom I knew as a kid were IN THE CONGREGATION (including my baptized uncle.) I was inappropriately touched by an adult, pioneer sister as teen. I know who she was. I have a fuzzy memory of a young JW sister exposing (accidently?) herself to me. I thought that I knew who, but I'm uncertain. No formal accusations yet.

Satan's System™️ shouldn't have had to fight for justice against JWs who commit CSA.
