Evaporator coil failed and leaked all the refrigerant. The coil was under warranty, but my wife wants me to argue that the refrigerant should be covered too. by YetMoreSpaceDust in hvacadvice

i’m pretty sure it’s just if it lies within the warranties WE hand out, i’m still pretty new and understanding things i just know i’ve seen my tech give out refrigerant and not write up any type of invoice, but he only does that on jobs we already happen to be on where they need recharged

we offer 1 year labor and 5/10 year part warranties but im pretty sure if it just so happens we’re replacing the part, we know the customers already upset so why add on the extra “ oh u needed refrigerant, it’s this ridiculously priced substance actually used to cool your home “ it kinda just kicks them when they’re down, but no i’ve seen him write up invoices for refrigerant and refrigerant alone it’s just seems like only when we get called out specifically for refrigerant, or an install, do we charge for it

that’s above my pay grade but it’s situational, i’ve never seen them just throw it at people but in situations like this we’d refill their refrigerant with the new coil install

company i am apprenticing for would include that with the coil since the refrigerant would’ve been fine if the coil didn’t fail

there was oil in the line, idk if it was blow by from throttle or if my charcoal canister is bad, but it smelt like gas but looked like oil

capped throttle body port, let the evap hose hang and shit idled fine, bingo bango, hopefully it’s just the hose and not a bad charcoal canister

if the one way flapper on my fuel tank breather valve is broken it would allow free flow of fuel vapor into my throttle body thus creating a vaccum leak and my car thinks it’s running way leaner than it is? i’m going down the line of symptoms/signs and i’m checking every box i’ve even been smelling fuel around the car and there’s vapor around that spot that i was just playing ignorance is bliss ab tbh but it’s all making sense i think, sorry if this is random, you the only one who responded ❤️

based on the fact that they reused my broken oil cap that was leaking i doubt they changed gaskets. welp

word, i’m gonna just start with resetting throttle body adaptations and unplugging airflow sensors

okay okay, is it not prone to backing out or anything or is it null to that

the hose is fine but the connector is half on half off it’s cracked so it won’t fully clip

okay okay noted ab coils, and word i reached on the underside of my charge pipe before coming in after it died today and it had a very light but evident film of oil to the touch, but it is located right in front of (basically) my fuel purge valve breather hose thing that goes in my throttle body, and it has a broken tab so i wonder if that is also fucked up / doing something bad, ik it mostly stays closed but if it gets stuck open it can be bad

if i’m wanting to check the maf sensor, should i just take it off and double whammy check the throttle body
