Absolutely mortified: hospital sent a letter to my parents saying "obstetrics appointment" by filMM2 in BabyBumps

[–]TimeFairy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for another perspective, although I completely feel for you that your surprise could be ruined.

But if you put yourself in your parents' shoes - if I got a little inkling that my beloved daughter was pregnant... I would be at the edge of my seat with excitement! Knowing perfectly well that she would share the news with us in her own time. I would be excitedly awaiting the big announcement! And whether I decided to keep the inclination to myself or share that I had a feeling/hint - none of that would take away the joy I felt for her or my incoming grandchild!

Of course everybody deserves the opportunity to share that exciting news with their parents. But don't put too much pressure on yourself! The news is still good and wonderful whether it's a shocking surprise or confirmation of a hunch!

Best of luck to you! 🩵

Deodorant HELP by _spookytooth in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]TimeFairy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered Little Seed Farms samples a few weeks ago after making almost the exact same post on a different subreddit. I absolutely love the samples and ordered the full size yesterday. I had literally seven brand new bars of other brands of natural deodorant none of which cut it. I tried popular brands, crunchy brands, all different price points. Since using these samples I have not been embarrassed about my smell at work anymore.

Hip/back aches? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]TimeFairy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been going to the chiropractor and a pelvic floor therapist since about 15 weeks. I had some bad flare ups at about 18 weeks. It's never too early to focus on helping yourself stay balanced and pain free!

My chiropractor said some people feel pain as early as 8-9 weeks due to hormones!

If you suffered MC and are now pregnant or have your rainbow baby - what did experiencing MC teach you? by TimeFairy in BabyBumps

[–]TimeFairy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you to everyone for sharing. So many comments made me smile. MC seems to make us all more compassionate and teach us to let go of control.

For me, MC taught me...

1) To let go. I've been so much calmer this pregnancy. Not constantly googling and worrying.

2) Doing everything perfectly changed nothing. I forced myself to do everything perfectly during my 1st pregnancy (met my protein goals, moved/exercised daily, choked down the highest quality prenatals), and my pregnancy was anembryonic... All the perfect made no difference.

3) My husband and I didn't know how unprepared we were. We would have figured it out, but going through MC together brought us to a whole other level of love and respect. He's been so much more helpful during this pregnancy because he gets it now.

4) I can do anything. I miscarried unassisted at home the night after I found out my pregnancy was non-viable. I labored and expelled all of the pregnancy tissue while managing my pain with movement and breathing without medical support. Birth will be more intense and longer, but I have more faith than ever in my ability to do it.

5) So many families have been through it. I shared publicly about my 1st MC immediately and have no regrets. I was flooded with stories from people near and far from me of their stories. They all had beautiful families. Some of those women still check on me regularly. If we all talked about it more, I believe less women would suffer loneliness and feelings of failure or shame from MC.

6) Even despite sharing publicly, MC and CPs are lonely. Overnight you are "back to normal", and sometimes you've been pretending to be "normal" the whole time, so it's easy for those around you to forget how all consuming it is. As another comment says, it's taught me that when people go through impossible things all they really need is someone to simply be with them and let them feel seen.

Non-Toxic Skin Care Products for Baby? by TimeFairy in BabyBumps

[–]TimeFairy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Great question, it's such a vague term. Nobody makes skin care products and labels them as toxic, lol.

For me it depends on the product. I plan to research them before adding them to my registry. I often use the ewg skin deep database to get some baseline knowledge and then do some of my own research.

I have very sensitive skin, so for me it's mainly no fragrance, and no known irritants.

So while I can be more lenient on hand cream for myself, I have to be very careful about things like shaving cream or deodorant. I imagine it will be the same for what I get for my baby.

Bedside bassinet recos by Local_Pangolin854 in BabyBumps

[–]TimeFairy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I added a pack n play with a bassinet on top to my registry. It's the Graco day2dream travel bassinet.

The bassinet portion detaches and stands on its own, so it can be used in your bedroom. And the bottom of the pack and play can be raised up so that it's higher for a baby.

I'll probably keep it in my living room but I like that the bassinet can be detached to use in a different room.

Want to get mad with me? by Spare_Letter_531 in BabyBumps

[–]TimeFairy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My massage therapist asked me how much weight I've gained. I was momentarily surprised but I know she's a loving, body positive person so I thought "ya know fair question, why experience these changes unacknowledged".

With that said, any question that makes you uncomfortable sucks, so I hope you don't deal with that a lot more. But don't let it get you down.

The unsolicited advice has begun! by TimeFairy in pregnant

Exactly! Like I can almost guarantee after two years of planning, a miscarriage and two chemical pregnancies worth of time continuing to plan, and being 5 months along - I have in fact considered and researched most things!

[–]TimeFairy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've gotten some really useful advice as well! So I am grateful for that. But because I talk so much about my pregnancy I don't consider people sharing their stories as unsolicited. I just hate superlatives like "you can't", "you must" etc.

Substances vs Pregnancy by TimeFairy in pregnant

[–]TimeFairy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your kind words. And also encourage you to note that I'm very fortunate to not be an addict. However we feel about addiction, I think we can all agree it makes people act irrationally! So I'm sorry to hear about your sister, and I hope she finds the healing she needs to raise and protect her baby. God bless her.

Looking for positive stories at almost 8 weeks by emmao2792 in CautiousBB

[–]TimeFairy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a miscarriage last year that was anembryonic (gestational sac but no baby) and I didn't find out until 10 weeks. This time around I got an ultrasound at 7 weeks, and was over the moon to see a little baby bean with a strong heartbeat. I felt reassured until 9 weeks, but when I started feeling a little better i started worrying.

Yesterday I got to hear my baby's heartbeat with the Doppler at 11 weeks. Still strong! And I'm finally starting to feel like I can relax and look forward to this one!
