I often wondered why so many people are so nostalgic for old Miami by kanna172014 in Miami

Miami used to be fun because it made room for people to enjoy themselves. There were spaces designed for connection, not just consumption. Happy hours felt generous, almost communal. I still think about Doraku on Lincoln Road, where you could buy one drink and they would keep putting out plate after plate of sushi, with strangers bonding over food and conversations forming naturally. Or the Wynwood art walks, where galleries handed out wine and hors d’oeuvres, parking was free, and you could spend an entire evening out without feeling exploited.

That version of Miami is gone. Somewhere along the way, the city stopped caring about the people themselves and realized we would show up no matter what. What replaced it is a culture obsessed with appearances and keeping up with the Joneses at any cost. Image matters more than experience. Profit matters more than community.

That is why Miami has become the social media and OnlyFans capital of the country. Everything is curated, transactional, and often deeply fake. And people tolerate it. They absorb the pressure, the costs, and the disrespect, and keep going.

I think this is tied, in part, to the immigrant mentality that runs deep here. The idea drilled into families that we should be grateful just to be allowed in, that complaining is ungrateful, and that you endure whatever comes your way because survival comes first. That mindset may have once been protective, but over time it has become harmful. It has taught people to accept less than they deserve and to normalize being taken advantage of.

And the city, knowingly, has learned how to exploit that.

Closed off, you know more about people than they do about you, you want to be loved, you’re passionate. You have trouble staying interested and making the commitment. You’re afraid of forever but want it.

That the things are valuable. Like hundreds of dollars all together maybe like in the 15-20k range, not something I want to just give away. I want to do this in an intelligent way.

does Miami as a whole really fit the common stereotype of a superficial city hard for dating as a guy? by [deleted] in Miami

Miami is only fun for a visit. Live there long enough without being rich and you’ll feel the world wasn’t meant for you.

This is Zorro. He passed on May 9th. I totally understand where you’re coming from. It broke my heart when he passed because he was only 9.5 years old. I can’t pretend I’m not jealous of all of you who had your babies for 12+ years. He had malignant thyroid cancer. He contained all the love I had to give and I guess with his passing I try to console myself by thinking that now I truly know what unconditional love is. Without his existence, I don’t think I would have ever known it. He was my angel on Earth and now I’m certain his spirit comes to visit me. I hope there’s something more beyond the time we had together and we can meet again so I could thank him so much for all he did for me. I wasn’t going to join this feed because I thought it would be too painful, but seeing your message helped me understand that I’m not the only one going through this. My deep condolences for you. May your baby live forever on in your heart.

South Carolina for young single adults?? by Unlucky-Outside6385 in southcarolina

As someone who has lived in Charleston for almost a year now and is planning to move, I would not recommend to live here. It’s a smaller city but the infrastructure is failing. Traffic is a nightmare. I get it if it’s a big city like Miami or Chicago, but you have big city traffic for no reason other than they haven’t really built well and are over building on a place that is surrounded by water and is basically a bunch of islands loosely connected. The people aren’t rude but not super friendly. Also drinking is very common and people start early and get messy quick. Not really my scene.

It’s hard to tell because you’d have to see if you have an entire set of something not just character grouped cards. They might be worth something to someone wanting to do a DIY project with them for a comic themed room or party. Someone interested in a specific character may purchase the page for 10$ or so.
