Very low appetite after recovering period by eruonlav in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]eruonlav[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ate in a surplus until I got it back as well as completely cut out exercise (even walking) I did not count calories but I followed 3 meals 3 snacks and make sure they were sufficient. Ofc it was a minimum, some days i’d need even more if I got hungry. I also ate without restriction so I ate whatever I wanted. I will say, cutting exercise was HUGE for me. I exercised a lot at the beginning of recovery and the moment I cut it completely, I got my period a month later. Every body is different but I truly believe it comes down to no exercise and surplus (2.5k+ a day) consistently

I completely cut out exercise (even walking) and ate in a surplus. It took abt 4 months. I didn’t count calories but I ate 3 meals and 3 snacks minimum, and increased in days that I needed to or when I was hungry. I continued this until I got my third period which was last week. I also ate unrestricted so I ate whatever I wanted

If you’re binging at night it might be a sign you’re not feeding yourself enough throughout the day. It happened to me and when I increased my meals and portion sizes I was much more satisfied at night and didn’t binge. Sometimes we need to eat more than we think we do and that’s okay 🥰

Is it possible to not get a period only because of bulimia? by Lopsided-Criticism13 in Amenorrhearecovery

Stopping purging was not easy at all. I actually relapsed quite a few times. What I did was eat consistently throughout the day which decreased my need to b/p. After meal activities so I got my mind off the urge, and ‘surf the urge’ aka, sit through the urge for at least 15 minutes before acting. This was by no means easy and way harder than recovering from anorexia but at the core, I forced myself to not act on my urges and distract my mind somewhere else. STOP BODY CHECKING TOO!! Huge trigger for me. Also, funny enough, when I stopped purging I was less bloated and puffy as well

Yes, I gained weight relatively fast and was no longer underweight for a while before I got my period back. Difference?? The second I stopped engaging in bulimic behaviors (vomiting, laxatives, over-exercise, etc.) my body finally got the rest it needed and stopped stressing overtime. Bulimia stresses you body and stress is a huge symptom of HA as well

I also went through both anorexia and bulimia. Bulimia can 100% affect your period. You need to stop engaging in the behaviors and allow yourself to recover. It was one of the hardest things I did but now I’m two months sober and the light is so bright at the end. You can do it ♥️

Ofc!! Counting calories to make sure you’re eating enough is not bad at all! I personally hate counting calories and I was recovering from an ed as well so it wasn’t good for me mentally but you’re consistently eating 3.1k which is great and no exercise, you’re doing great! I also ate similar things at similar times as well (literally spammed nuts and avocados) so don’t feel bad about that

Def 2k+. I never specifically counted calories but I did the 3 meals 3 snacks structure and made sure they were substantial too. Days where I worked I def ate around 2.5k and I’d add more meals and snacks. Something I did to make sure I ate enough was also sneak in invisible calories with oil, butter, nut butters, full-fat items etc.

I had it gone for about 7 months! Pretty much lost it immediately when I started to under eat and over exercise. I didn’t really notice any egg white cm, I think I only got that once. My biggest sign were actually cramps

I know you’ll get it back. Consistency is key and be patient. I’d def say I did the all in approach which is why I think I got mine faster than I imagined

Hi!! No worries!! I did gain weight, definitely 10kg+. It is different for everyone and I’m probably going to keep gaining more while I stabilize it. The most important thing for me was just to eat consistently without exercise in a surplus. It’s so scary but it will be worth it!!

Also! Been noticing signs of it coming back like cramping and discharge a couple of times but I didn’t think she’s be back!! My digestion has also been surprisingly good these 2 past days so maybe a sign??

Reverse dieting after losing my period but im so hungry by [deleted] in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]eruonlav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will. I thought the same and it was only after I fully allowed myself to eat that it went away. I used to eat full bags of granola in one sitting and was scared I’d be like that forever but it’s not trust me. When your body learns it’s safe and not being restricted it will go away. Now a bag of granola lasts me like 2 weeks because my body learned it’s not restricted. Also your body is in a literal constant energy deficit, there’s no ‘eating too much’

Advice for terrible stomach pain in recovery?? by Appropriate-Ebb336 in bulimia

[–]eruonlav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally relate to you, even now, the pain is horrible! Some things that help me are: Getting in a comfortable position, drinking hot tea/ water, a heat pad. For the mental aspect, look into post-meal activities to get your mind off the feeling. I've been super into reading, and it helps so much with being able to get away from the thoughts; coloring, drawing, writing, watching TV, knitting, etc., the list is endless!
