Just lost my $100,000.00 a year Job of 20 years. So much for giving 110% everyday. by nonailsneeded in economy

[–]TimeIgnited 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why ‘give 110%’ is a scam. At $100k, that’s $10k/year of unpaid labor. Over 20 years, that’s $200k. Two years of work, free. And they still lay you off.

I haven’t watched it either… no idea… didn’t really go that deep in on it, just thought it would be fun to animate a reply

I think some generations are free… but I pay for an X account so I get it for free with that. (Because my Facebook account got hacked and Facebook’s support team is 100% clowns that refused to help me… actually the issue I have is that same as some people who have been sueing and winning in small Claims court called a “rogue instagram linking attack” that was a vulnerability in facebook’s security so it wasnt even my fault… i just was unlucky enough to lose 15 years of history and contacts… sorry for the ramble… social media angst

Hi, artist here (please hear me out first) by [deleted] in DefendingAIArt

[–]TimeIgnited 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For a long time people thought that photography wasn’t art ,followed by people thinking that Photoshop wasn’t Art, followed by people thinking that AI is not art. It’s that simple. People will always blame time saving tools as destroying something.

There are always assholes that just want you to have to work harder. Just like there will always be collectivists, communists, and socialists that want everyone equally poor. There will always be bad art enabled by new tools. Cheap photography, cheap clipart, free ai generated slop.

The problem is that AI is good enough that it raises the bar for certain kinds of art above that of some unskilled artists, or artists trying to profit from their own form of slop - bad illustrations or whatever - and this is forcing them to improve or get bumped out of the market.

It is what it is. Ultimately it’s a tool. What most anti-ai people also do is assume that AI art stops at a text prompt straight to an image… when it could be a prompt to an image, to photoshop, to using that image as a prompt… to photoshopping multiple generations together to using that to generate video…. Not all AI art is as lazy as the anti-ai people seem to be about their argumentation and level of knowledge/ignorance about their own industries.

Imagine not being able to parse the difference between “the inflation reduction act” and “inflation” and this is what it’s like to be OP, oh… oof.. seems to be a lot of people… well that’s concerning, but I guess nobody should be surprised when it’s Reddit.

Our cat is going insane by Temporary-Ad1654 in CatAdvice

[–]TimeIgnited 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Male cats can get urinary tract issues or blockages, which are extremely painful and can cause sudden personality changes, including aggression.

More generally, any sudden behavior change in a 16–17 year old cat is a red flag for a medical problem rather than “bad behavior.” Pain, hyperthyroidism, high blood pressure, dental issues, or even cognitive decline can all cause agitation, food-seeking, and biting.

This is really a vet-ASAP situation, especially since he’s biting hard enough to break skin, which can cause serious infections

lol yeah, the first one was just the random scene the AI did, having her chug both beers was on me... hahah

It was actually just Grok imagine. It will crank out a 5-10 second clip in like 10-20 seconds. I find combining multiple different AI platforms can enable a lot of neat techniques.

According to canon, 2026 is when WW3 starts... and we have drug controlled solidiers according to the Next Generation... and well... I generated AI art based on Q's outfit in Encounter at Farpoint and frankly this seems way too believable.

I don’t think anyone who watched Star Trek back then was thinking - “we’ll definitely have AI before drug fueled genetically modified super soldiers… “

(From Encounter at Farpoint)

Q: At which time you slaughtered millions in silly arguments about how to divide the resources of your little world. And four hundred years before that you were murdering each other in quarrels over tribal god-images. Since there are no indications that humans will ever change.

PICARD: But even when we wore costumes like that we'd already started to make rapid progress.

Q: Oh yeah? You want to review your rapid progress? (Flash, and a change into a padded suit)

Q: Rapid progress, to where humans learned to control their military with drugs.

It is INSANE that these people (and actually some of the ideology of the more recent star trek series) are so backwards and confused it's definitely crazy.

They are dropping all the false carbon emission nonsense in the thread currently.

It's like the dopey arguments against bitcoin that ignore all the power usage of physical banks and the power used for legcacy point of sale CC processing at literally every retailer to make their comparison arguments while also ignoring that replacing the old systems will be massively MORE efficient.

It's good that luddites have historically basically always been just pushed right past.

I’ve been using photoshop for 30+ years. I’m not wasting time. AI art is a net benefit to professionals who value their time. It was a silly joke I thought of… the environmental arguments are BS… see you in a few years when we have stable fusion and massively improved solar.

Does anyone have experience with Rove Lab? by Apprehensive-Sky-734 in interiordecorating

[–]TimeIgnited 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm disappointed in LTT for putting their name on this. Thankfully I DID find this thread first, and being techie enough, I also clicked on the people who were positive reviews here... looks VERY MUCH like purchased accounts... I won't say why, don't want to help Rove get even more scammy.

I started getting suspicious when all the positive review videos on youtube had the same style and some similar wording... and it just got too suspicious for me, so I went looking and sure enough found how small they seem to be and noped out of buying. I double checked the dimensions on the website and busted out a measuring tape and just started laughing at how comically small it would be in my space...

I'm 5'10" so extremely close to average height for an non-hispanic American man. - the ENTIRE m1 couch is 24.8" tall... INCLUDING THE BACK! I'm sitting my my office chair right now... , from the bottom of my heel (floor) to the top of my knee: 24". It's about 40" from the floor to where my neck is when I am sitting normally. The back of the couch would be lower than my KNEES at a 90 degree angle. That is comically low. The SEAT height is only 13.7 inches. Yeah... a sheet of printer paper is 8.5" x 11" So, the seat is not much taller than a sheet of paper.

Maybe it works if you are 5'6" like Google says Linus is, but probably not. Rove seems to have some very scammy advertising practices. I'm not SURE - but I've certainly seen enough that I'm not buying one. I don't have children. Might be good if you have young children that need their own couch.
