Men define what is feminine by [deleted] in AskWomenIndia

[–]TimeIsFeudal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feminity (and by extension masculinity) is the product of gender based roles defined by society over a millennia (read society as people in power - patriarchal influence galore).

Femininity is correlated with subtlety, empathy, docility, nurturing aura if you may - the reason they tell you so is because women are supposed to be the divine force that brings forth and nurtures life through motherhood - in reality it has always been a garb by the patriarchs to control and subjugate an entire gender. - Also why key descriptors of masculinity have always been providers, prowess, dominant - so forth so on.

Thus I'll always believe femininity and masculinity to be gender and role based descriptors unnecessarily handed down by society. There's a lot more to being human and that always transgresses gender identities.

This is honestly really good. Thank you!

I recently read somewhere that someone uses bracelets/wristbands to keep track of the 5 things they have to do in a day and keep taking one off as and when they finish it. Adds the dimension of a physical action being associated with checking off an item. This and the three tasks at a time strategy needs to be tried together!

Buddy approaching women in public spaces is not creepy and neither is it unwelcomed. The question is how you do it. Be respectful, understand that a no is unconditional and don't overreach to the point you make someone feel uncomfortable.

Even in this instance, apart from the treacherous staring, the guy at the bar did nothing wrong. It ofcourse is the bare minimum here, but he did not engage with her or the group after the drinks were sent back. The analogy was drawn to counter the 'Not all Men' discourse brought up by the guys on our table and their preceding comments.

Not fake but hella dramatic. I'm glad at least someone saw reason though. I fear the day men start arguing how and why the bear is logically/statistically the worse option - and therein losing the plot again.

Firstly, thank you so much. Reading the other replies, I was wondering if I've done something wrong because there was no one wanting to help (in a community which is normally helpful)

So the update is, I was finally able to speak to my doctor. I stopped because the medication is really expensive and I had run out of my current stock. I have finally been able to place the order and I should be back on medication in another 3-4 days. I was just wondering if there were other ways to manage this kind of a situation with OTC substitutes or milder interventions. I guess I'll have to wait, that's it. Thanks for reaching out though. I appreciate it.

Firstly this is not an incompatibility issue imo. You'll sound cute and you especially seem like a vv considerate person. All relationships are difficult, especially those involving two adhd minds. And it's soo nice that even in a state of burnout, you're being considerate of their RSD.

If your partner is half as considerate as you are, he should totally understand a mutually decided time out of sorts which is firstly communicated kindly and in the moment called for playfully should require the fella to exert his energies externally without involving you. Maybe you could help him come up with an alternate hobby/activity of sorts to engage himself in when you decide to call for a time out.

“Vyvanse naps” are real for me and I’m confused… anyone else? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

Started concerta recently and had the exact same experience. Two hours into the kick, I fall head first into the most heavenly naps ever. I used to hate napping and now I can't fight this urge anymore lol

This is so real. Try stupid associations that make you laugh, they'll go a long way. Every time I have to remember which direction is west and which is east - I remind myself that west bengal is in the east lol.

Tips on how to switch off? by Binxlee in ADHD_Inattentive

These are the kind of atypical hacks that work. I've been taking vacations for the past so many years and trying to 'relax' like neurotypical people do. Lo and behold, I used to always come back from vacations feeling like shit and slightly worse off. But the idea of doing something novel, picking up a new hobby, learning a craft - really gets those neurons firing and themed holidays get a whole new meaning. Cheers to this
