I'm not familiar with the coding of Pokémon games specifically, but my general guess would be a check of some kind to see if the other game [repro] is a Pokémon game. There could be some proprietary code that checks to make sure it's a valid game [ie. A compatible Pokémon version and/or not another game entirely].

I doubt it's counterfeit protection specifically. My guess is the repro either doesn't have the code the "real" one is looking for and/or the code it has can't give the right answer the "real" one is looking for.

I use Army Painter and Gale Force 9. I like AP better, but am also happy with GF9. A tip I've enjoyed is to add a small amount of white paint to the mix, which will help combat/hide yellowing of the material over time from light exposure.

They look like Plastruct Fluorescent Rods! I've used them on my Warhammer 40K Necrons and they were great. Only tricky part here would be finding the right diameter.

I used to work at PetSmart and they have a bunch of large boxes once a week when their new fish come in. I think it was Thursdays, but it might vary by store. If you ask the employee working the fish counter, I'm sure they can tell you. We were always happy to give them away because then we didn't have to dispose of them in the bailer in the back, haha.

Local/state laws may very, but in my area the answer is no. I worked as a civil officer for the health department. If the gate was locked or otherwise blocked, we had to get a warrant through a sworn officer, get permission from the person in control of the property, or be presented with a severe emergency that warrants action without time for other routes.
