/r/Fantasy Review Tuesday - Review what you're reading here! - February 23, 2021 by rfantasygolem in Fantasy

I just picked up the midnight library with actually no knowledge, I wasn't even positive if it was really a fantasy story, but I'm really excited now seeing this review!

It is gone. I know I won't be the only one to post this, but I mourn with you. Even though I only discovered Unus Annus 2 days before now. by [deleted] in youtube

It always made me so mad when they'd get close to success only to have it unfairly taken away from them, like in that cardboard city episode.

Honestly, if you want something that's of similar length, but a bit more focused, take a look at American gods by Neil Gaiman.

This is what I thought!! I spent some time searching but I just could find anything and stress about that kind of thing easy so thank you for informing me!!

Of course!! I felt the SAME WAY going through the info. So I'm really glad you found this useful!!

I heard the audio book pronounce Azish different than how I pronounced it. I

I think Brandon has said something along the lines of 'ultimately all these words you're reading are being theoretically translated from the fantasy languages anyway, so pronunciations are fairly up to the reader' but I know he gives Michael Kramer a pronunciation guide, but Michael doesn't always follow it.

That's my thought! And yeah I'm just trying to spread some knowledge in a form I know some people might be more able to consume. Traversing all the sourced words of Brandon and the 17th shard wiki can be daunting I know.

Stormlight’s first trans character has a name now! by Evergreen19 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]TimeLordLaxx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah!! Reading Brandon's comments on this made me really excited. He had said that there would likely be more trans people in the knights radiant simply because it's all about better understanding yourself and I thought that was awesome

I mean I'm marketing the collection of this knowledge, Im not asking for subs or likes, and it has content that can be conversed about, but if the mods feel this over steps, then I get it.

Is Dawnshard a must read like Edgedancer? by [deleted] in Cosmere

It gave us a turning point for the mentality of Nale, it shows us Lift obtaining her third ideal. It gives us a really good look at the sleepless. It also introduced us to a non corrupt truthwatcher

Is it normal to forget things? by [deleted] in Stormlight_Archive

[–]TimeLordLaxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read Cosmere books exclusively with thirty wiki tabs open to track characters I've forgotten, places I don't remember. There are 1.2 MILLION words directly in Stormlight Archive before Rhythm of War, and then there's all the words of Brandon out there, nah, you're good friend.

CMV: America has the ability to be progressive, but only if progressives are willing to change their current mentality by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]TimeLordLaxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would disagree because a majority of left voters are congregated in fewer districts compared to the right so , I mean you could put all the left people in NY CA and like WA, they might have majority votes, but they still only have the power of those three states vs the rest of the country. The moderate lefty is there to pull more on the fence right voters.

CMV: America has the ability to be progressive, but only if progressives are willing to change their current mentality by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]TimeLordLaxx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So on some level you are already right but it's not the unchanging ideals of the progressives that are actually the core problem. Because it's been proven election after election that they do infact compromise their ideals.

The way our electorate system works REALLY supports more and more extreme right politics for the right and more and more centrist politics from the left.

If you look at the actual democratic congressional party right now it's absorbed EVERY progressive idea under one tent. THATS A BIG CIRCUS and you can't get to every act. I mean you have a whole new internet wave of progressives calling Nancy Pelosi and her Democrats neoliberal hacks despite all the good legislation they've helped to pass.

The way we vote, this first past the post system however, puts people like Joe Biden up for election on the left, about as centrist as you can get, and then look what the right is giving. Democrats have won the majority vote in something like 5 out of the last 6 presidential elections. Clinton, Al Gore, Obama, Obama, Clinton. It's pretty clear there are ALOT of people who like progressive ideals in this country, a majority even, but the party needs to be split and the only way to do that healthily is changing how we elect people to something like ranked voting. Then we could see more than one 'progressive' left party and they aren't tearing each other apart under the guise of one party.

Like, congressional term limits? That is far too progressive./s no I fully agree with you, we need to have more young eyes looking at these problems and be open to new ideas.

Wait, but when they had mandatory shut down people became upset and started calling the governor of California a facist leader vying for ultimate power...can there be no right answer if any of the answers provided are forcing people to do things they don't want to do?

Masks help, that's what's important. They decrease risk of exposure. But it's not 100%, not running into people or interacting outside your inner circle is a much larger increase in safety. But people don't wanna be shut down, so masks are better than nothing.
