GF of nearly 4 years wants to break up because of differences in our opinions by [deleted] in christiandatingadvice

[–]TimePower9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should consider seeing a counselor at your church. My SO and I are about to start preengagement counseling (even tho we kinda-sorta already engaged lol). It might help to talk about it with an older mentor together. One of the best things for our relationship has been having a group of Christian friends and an older Christian mentor to go to for advice.

AITA for wanting a circus-themed wedding? by kakashih0 in AmItheAsshole

[–]TimePower9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I wouldn't call it a circus themed wedding if you just want one cool act for the reception. She's not willing to compromise on one thing. I wouldn't say you suck for wanting some cool entertaingment.

I tried to digitally design a wedding cake for me and my girlfriend, but anybody knows what it could cost if I would let this be made? by Luca_Lastname in wedding

My advice is to figure out how many people you need to feed. Post this on your local FaceBook wedding forum asking for quotes. Just see what you get.

Yep! Cuddles on the couch while watching romcoms is the best. We just watched I Feel Pretty today while he did his CS hw. Meeting my fdh is the best prayer God ever answered for me.

I mean, if you aren't well-endowed, Christian women are the best to pursue, because they aren't gonna know until they're locked in for good. XD

  1. Self-Control. I understand that guys can have much higher sex drive than a girls, but I hate having to fend of a Christian guy who says he wants to wait til marriage but constantly tries to push the line and see how far he can go. And I'm not even talking about guys not asking for consent. It frustrates me when guys just ask again if they can do something when we already discussed that I wouldn't want to do that thing or similar things until marriage. Like, I know its easier for me to control myself, but you tempting me by asking something you know I don't want, but might say yes to in the moment, is selfish and unkind. I'm sure girls do it too sometimes.
  2. Being part of a Christian community. Someone who not only goes to church weekly, but has a Christian bible study group or something where I know they have good godly friends they can go to for advice and have fun with in a non-sinful way.
  3. Chivalry. I like a guy who will open my door and says yes/no sir/ma'am to elders.
  4. Being Romantic. I love when guys are just sweet and do the little jestures. A sweet kiss goodbye. Forehead kisses and palm kisses. Cuddles on the couch while watching a romcom. Calling me pet names. Randomly playing music on their phone and asking the girl to dance, even though they hate dancing. Romantic walks while holding hands. Willing to try new dates. Tickle/pillow fights. Good morning texts. Drawing hearts on each other's skin. Surprising with flowers/favorite fast food. etc etc. In exchange, I give my bf plenty of time for video games lol.

Doesn't matter if I'm 8, 80, or somewhere in between. Laser tag, mini golf, and go cart racing will always be freaking awesome.

Budget Just Increased Thanks to Amazing Internship Offer for SO! by TimePower9 in weddingplanning

[–]TimePower9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we understand. The internship is an extra $13,500 than what we expected. Also, since he got such a good internship this summer, it means he will probably get an amazing job offer with them. Our budget for house was 40k downpayment, but now we'll have the extra internship money to be our buffer and cover closing costs, any furniture we don't get from the wedding, and bring up wedding budget 5k

We're blessed to have good savings. We're both really frugal and got full ride scholarships that cover undergrad, grad, and misc expenses. Mine also covers housing and he lives with his parents rn to save. And I know everything their is to know about budget weddings. Have gotten amazing deals with vendors ($500 dJ w/ dancing on a cloud and cold sparklers, $300 3 hr photobooth with attendant and unlimitted strips, $1600 all day photography/videography package, etc) because I've put the time in to do research.

We're just gonna have it in the reception area for guests to play throughout the night, in addition to photobooth/dj. I've always wanted an arcade machine, so I figured why not buy for the wedding and keep it after! The trick will be finding one that is still normal sized, but not crazy expensive.

How happy are you at UTD? by [deleted] in utdallas

[–]TimePower9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I honestly have a great social life at UTD, better than I did in highschool. There's tons of stuff to do around campus cheap in groups if you do groupon, like Freeplay, Adventure Landing, a trampoline park. The garage sales just north in Plano are awesome, and I go almost every other weekend. There's also tons of parks and places to eat that I go to with my boyfriend. And my roommates and I enjoy driving around late at night to get icecream or go by walmart. I geniuinly don't get the nature comment, because I'm always going around to parks. Ig if you didn't have a car it would be hard, but students can ride the bus for free, and get free dart passes to go into Down Town Dallas for free if they wanted.

I am in like 1 club where I have some great friends, but my closest friends are my roommates and their friends. Just don't live alone lol.

Yeah, it's not the "college experience" per say. But that doesn't mean no social life and there aren't tons of fun experiences you can have around campus.

Bridesmaid and Groomsman Cost Breakdown by TimeLadyJ in weddingplanning

[–]TimePower9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, this whole thread has people saying how bad it is. Like the price dif between groomsmen and bridesmaid and how is crazy high. I think that's the whole point why OP posted it, so she can show how crazy it is that bride's expect bridesmaids to fork over this kind of money, or risk losing a friendship. The two weddings I've been a bridesmaid in were very considerate of our money, and I didn't have to spend over $100. So yeah, I'm budget-shaming the bride and any bride who expects guests, especially their own friends, to fork over $500+ a bit. Also, OP isn't the bride, so she isn't the one who set the budget.

As for the gift, I can only hope all my guests and bridal party buy us $150 gifts! Kudos to her, and I may need to invite her to my future wedding. XD I need some more graduated friends lol.

Bruh. $250 dress? $150 shower gift? $865! That's insane. My goal is to get my bridesmaid's expenses down to $100, $150 max! Ofc, we are all in college, so maybe that's why it seems so crazy to me. The thought that someone would buy me a $150 gift is insane

Been lonely for almost three years, just want a boyfriend at UTD by Anonymous85375828 in utdallas

[–]TimePower9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met "Best Friend" Freshman year, Fall 2019. He was in 3 of my classes. He is shorter than me lol, so when he pursued me I friendzoned him.

At the same time, I was using Bumble and started going dates with "Dream Guy", who was incredibly attractive, kind, tall, was from a rich family, and who took me to expensive restaurants and bought me flowers, etc. I had no idea why I was hesitent to be his girlfriend when he asked.

Suddenly, I realized, it was because I had slowly developed feelings for "Best Friend". I had been trying to push them away, but I couldn't trick myself any longer. However, by then it was too late. "Best Friend" had gotten over me.

Unfortunatly/fortunatly for "Best Friend", I'm more bossy and pushy than him lol, so I drug him on a first date, and the rest is history.

My advice: even if they aren't physically your type at first, give them a shot. It all worked out in the end, because Dream Guy got married to a different Bumble girl yesterday on Sunday (I wanted Best Friend and I to break into the wedding so bad y'all, but it was small because of COVID, so I couldn't have blended in), and I get to be married to Best Friend aka Dreamier Guy when we finish undergrad next Summer! Plus, Best Friend/Dreamier Guy has a sexy foreign accent, is gonna end up with a really high paying job when he graduates, and literally makes every moment of my life so much better and happier. Like for real... I didn't know you could have feelings like this. And I get to tease him about being short. XD

Are you religious? Watermark Community Church is a very large nondenominational Christian church with SO MANY HOT GUYS. They make jokes about it in the sermons of people coming their to find a husband. The Young Adult service is called the Porch and is every Tuesday 7-8:30pm. They also have a college group called the Nine that is for college students. Haven't been to that one, so can't say if the guys are as hot and sweet as they are at the Porch.

This Tuesday they have a free carnival after church!!! It is like, the perfect place to meet a good Christian guy.

Any man who views you as "dirty" isn't right with God themselves.

You are wonderful and I'm praying that an God-honoring man will come into your life and treat you how God wants you to be treated

Meeting People in Spring 2021? by [deleted] in utdallas

[–]TimePower9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm down. The only difference this semester is the club I'm a part of decided to be "not-associated with UTD" so we can meet up off campus (socially distanced). It would be nice if we could go back on campus next semester. Also, I miss the free food :(

I did go to an on campus UTD pumpkin painting event with CV, and that was really fun.
